The reason stratheads are not offered on Custom Shop pricelist is because they are not available. The only place you'll find a strathead on a new Charvel is on the recent limited runs.

That's all I was asking. So my question wasn't so stupid, right?

It wasn't stupid at all. The Charvel price lists are about as clear as mud. Hell, I know these guitars, and I still don't get it!

did you just ask if Charvel does stratheads?

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeah I did. Someone who wasn't a retarded monkey might deduce from my low post count that I'm new to the J/C world. Sorry if I offended your monkey sensibilities with my noob question.

Since you know everything, could you show me where on the price list where it tells you how much a strathead costs on a custom? Thanks. I only see options for pointies and the PC1 headstock, but that might because my incredible noobness prevents me from seeing the strathead option.

My apologies if you weren't being an ass and were just asking for clarification because I didn't type loudly enough in my original post.

just b/c you have a low post count doesn't mean that you're new to the j/c world. there's plenty of new members here that have had charvels for a very long time. granted, we don't expect everyone to know the history, but we do expect the members (new and old) not to be dicks to each other.

please let me know if my reply wasn't typed loud enough for you to hear.

Sorry, I was just annoyed at the dismissive response to what I thought was a perfectly reasonable question. Apologies to everyone.

I can't edit my flame post anymore, mods please delete if you want.

well that has changed somewhat. Yes there will be a strat head on new PC1's I think, and this is just my opinion, that we'll eventually see stratheads available through the custom shop as an option

Re: Custom strats?

I built my Charvel "Jake" clone for around $800 in parts. I used Warmoth body and neck (not from the Thrift shop)(I finished the neck with a urethane oil finish myself) and first class hardware. I got the raw sealed neck and finished body special ordered from Warmoth in 4 weeks. Of course this was about the 11th guitar I have built, so I had developed a little experience. It's perfect!

moro,
there's a cat down in southern cal by me called
Tom Reiser. he makes nice guitars, but he takes a long time.
you can pick out your wood, he'll shave it to your hand the way you like it, etc. etc. check him out. he has a website.
i think it's- tomreiserguitars.com , or maybe spelled rieser, i forgot. he made one for me, it was nice but it took a long time and i am one impatient motherfukker.
Not helping the situation since 1965!

Is this the guy?

I may end up going the Warmoth route afterall. I have an old Warmoth body & neck lying around that I can practice on before I go and buy new parts.

In that price range I would always go for MCS. Neal Moser builds Strats too!

No seriously, It doesn't sound like this is something you want to do, but I was in the same type of market you were in, about 2 years ago. I wanted a custom Strat, but I didn't know what to get. I could spend like 1-2 grand, but really nothing at GMW or Neils strikes me that I would want to buy them. They are great guitars, at least they look it to me, I've never even SEEN one. Right around the same time I found a used Black USA Strat for sale. I forget what I paid for it, it was either one of my (back then) 4 Marshall 4x12s, or like 400$, I can't remember off hand.

I bought a new pickguard, new pickups, new pots, new input, new everything pretty much. I tried to keep all the screws stock...I don't know why, but a rusted screw in a played strat pickguard just looks right. I don't want some shiney chrome thing sticking up at me.

Well anyway, I've got about 175$ in the pickups, 40 in the pg, some chump change here and there, and I've got my "custom strat" It doesn't look as nice since it doesn't have some curly flame maple top or something, but to me, I love it.
