The whole charm behind a Les Paul involves the warm, thick tone. I'm curious as to how much of that tone is lost due to a Floyd trem.

I would imagine it would take the some of the darkness away...more metal the strings come in contact with = the brighter it becomes.

I agree...the LP's charm is in it's darker tone.

The route is a bit large, but I do think that the crookedness is just a product of poor camera angle and intonation. If you look at the first pic, it doesn't look nearly as off centered.

That guitar is really really cool (but not $3500 cool!!!).
BTW, I own the only Les Paul that I ever really fell for and it has a kalher!!!!!!

Yep... I think your right. The camera angle makes it look crooked. The first pic makes it look fine. I think they dumped a little too much time and money into it but it is pretty nice. Not $3500.00 nice, but still NICE.

I think actually for a person who would appreciate these appointments that is not that much of money. I mean let's face it Les Pauls are expensive(read overpriced [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]) guitars. People pay up to 6k for authentic '59 RI Les Pauls, around 3k for a brand new LP Custom and somewhere between 1.5k to 2k for a new Les Paul Classic or Standard. So I am assuming this will sell quite fast because Gibson doesn't offer anything like it. There is bound to be a Les Paul fan out there likes the maple board, the Floyd, the nice top etc.

If you were to buy a new R9 in the store it would cost you something like 4k. I could only imagine how Gibson would gouge for a flame maple top and fretboard and a floyd.

Lets all not forget that GMW had to buy the base guitar to start off with.

Believe me, I saw some people paying up to 6k for Murphy-aged killer top ones! Vintage market was always crazy, but nowadays even the replica market is. I do think 3500 is actually a reasonable price for this guitar.

I love Floyded Les Pauls, yet I think that guitar is heinous. I wouldn't pay half of that price for it.

here's something that no one has brought up yet; les pauls have quite a steep neck angle on them. i would think that a recessed floyd rout wouldn't work with such a steep neck angle. usually, a recessed floyd would go hand in hand with a straight neck angle.

i'm sure that lee got it workin somehow, but that popped into my head the other day. oh, and get used to this kinda thing; lee's been buying les pauls on ebay and floyding them. [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] there'll be more to come, for sure.

hmm...maybe he might create such a dent in the market, that Gibson will have to respond with their own Floyd LPs...hmmm, not likely i guess...

Gibson does offer a Floyd LP under Neal Schon signature but it is expensive!
