Check out this work guys...
This guitar began its life as a black 1983 Gibson Les Paul Standard. Serial number 80323586. The original guitar featured a three piece solid maple neck, a solid one piece mahogany body and a maple top. The following work was performed on this guitar by GMW Guitarworks.
(1) The guitar was totally striped to wood and all dings/dents in the original guitar were removed.
(2) A new 5A grade quilt maple arch top was installed, along with new creme body binding.
(3) A new matching 5A quilt maple fingerboard was installed, this fingerboard being made from the same billet of wood used to fashion the new top. The fingerboard is truly "matching" to the quilt maple top.
(4) New creme neck binding was installed and for the true rock players, the fingerboard was fretted with Dunlop 6100 jumbo frets.
(5) New abalone green "heart" trapezoid inlays were installed to replace the typical plastic trapezoid inlays normally found on this model.
(6) The tremolo and spring cavity routs for an Original Floyd Rose tremolo were introduced, along with a recess rout for the bridge.
(7) The guitar was refinished in a vintage honey burst, the back being painted a trans-brown. The fingerboard has a clear satin finish in order to preserve the depth and beauty of the quilt maple fingerboard beneath. The original Gibson logos and serial number were retained, and the headstock was restored to a new black appearance.
(8) The guitar was equipped with all new CTS long shaft pots, new Gibson gold barrel knobs, new Gibson rear control and 3-way toggle cavity plates, new Gibson rhythm/treble ring and a new Switchcraft input jack and gold side jack plate. None of the original parts found on this guitar were re-used.
(9) New Seymour Duncan zebra JB (Floyd spaced TB-4) and Jazz (SH-2n) pickups were installed, along with all new wiring, a new gold 3-way switch and a brass shielding sheet in the control cavity.
(10) New Grover gold Rotomatic tuners with Keystone buttons were installed.
(11) New Schaller strap locks were installed to protect the guitar from an inadvertent "gravitational" attack.
Everything employed on this instrument is new. All work described above was performed by GMW Guitarworks and NOT Gibson USA. GMW Guitarworks is NOT affiliated with Gibson USA in any manner.
If anyone is interested in this LP, the price is $3500 directly from GMW.
