I keep scrolling up to look at it Dave. Seriously though, is there anything that looks nicer than a clear finish over a nice piece of ash? My Aria Pro II CS400 has a very similar grain to that, but unfortunately, the finish is a bit darker so is not quite as nice as yours.

Holy Hell, Budman, those guitars are gorgeous. The finish and the inlay work on that second one are really nice.

So they went from the fanned pointy to the straight pull pointy and now they're offering the fanned pointy as a hidden option?

Erik that V is pretty cool. I'm actually considering getting one of the neck-thru blanks myself, and doing something unique.

Dave, thanks, those measurements will help. I'm going to make a mockup to see how it looks.

Thank you, A tip on the neckthru blanks....If you want/need a neck angle the wings will have to be thinner then 1.70". So you can tilt the wings and plane the excess off. I didn't think about it then, that is why I had to recess the bridge. but man do them necks play nice!

Re: Carvin - who\'s gottem? What\'s the deal?

Here's a pic of a 5 string lefty bass I built for a friend of mine in Belguim. Built with a Carvin neckthru center. This guy has a sick collection of high-end lefty basses, and this (he swears) is his favorite out of all of them, just because of the feel of the neck, and the way it blanaces.

You guys are still working on this? Holy moly, this was a lengthy project.

Ken, that bass looks incredible. What kind of electronics did you put in it?

Thanks Jimmy!
Bartolini electronics throughout...(Bart EQ tone/bass control) I used those standard in all my basses that I've built. Yeah...that paintjob took some time....first, it was tracking down a fishnet to use as a mask for the snakeskin. Then (because I don't have access to a spray booth) had to wait till the weather cooperated with me so I didn't have any issues with the paint. Couple that with a divorce, and huge move....and....you get the picture...LOL!

Re: Carvin - who\'s gottem? What\'s the deal?

We had a Carvin endosement in the early 90s and never had good luck with their necks....but I used a replacement neck(bolt on) and it was very nice.....and they have really nice finishes. I played one of the new 7 string models at NAMM last year and thought the neck was really fat and difficult to play

A buddy of mine has the Allan Holdswoth Fatboy: http://www.carvin.com/products/guita...ItemNumber=HF2

I love playing it. It's super light as it has a semi-hollow body and has great tone. And a really clever touch is that it has two pegs on the bottom so that you can lean it securely against your amp or the wall.

Well this is informative man..

as you may know I swear by Carvin bass amps...they are THE best for any money in my book...I will NEVER consider any other bass amp other than a Carvin stack...I am going to buy my fourth one...that says alot!

I owned every cool bass amp imaginable...and nothing compares to the almighty Carvin red eye stack..

But I am ignorant when it comes to their guiatars and basses...

My first impression with Carvin basses came around 1985 or so...my bud bought a natural neck thru...I must say it was the most HORRIBLE bass ever...that neck was made of rubber...I am NOT kidding you...the action on that neck would change on a daily basis...the fuck with that shit..

but by the mere looks of their axes...I must say they must have did some major homework...because they look a lot better than they ever did..

but , is the action "stable"...this I need to know...because when I order my 4th red eye stack bass stack...I may consisder buying one of their basses...a bolt on prefebly...but not if the neck is going to go all whammy on me...

My favorite basses in the whole world is still the awesome and forever consistant G & L 2000 w active pups...the loudest , easiest playing basses on the planet ...and I played them ALL...and I mean ALL!!
