• Help me with my Performance Guitar

OK... I wandered into a couple of Pawn shops yesterday afternoon and after seeing the usual piles of junk, I came across (actually my friend Scott noticed it) a Performance Guitar. After a minute or so of looking at it, I bought it. I can't find anything online about them. Here's the details: Bolt on Maple Neck with what seems to be a Pao Farro (sp?) fretboard, 22 medium Jumbo Frets. Body wood is unknown as of yet, but it feels and sounds like Alder. It has one Performance Humbucker Pickup in the bridge position. Pup made by Gotoh. 1 Volume control and a Kahler Pro in Brass. It plays and sounds amazing after a good Clean-up.

Neck is stamped August 23, 1985. So I/m guessing it's about 20 years old
Considering it's made in the USA I almost feel bad about the price I paid. Anyone have or know where I can get more info on this guitar?

Thanks in advance!

Trevor

Steve Vai liked them a lot, they've got a shop in Hollywood.

Re: Help me with my Performance Guitar

Love to see some photos....I picked one up from a Junkie in east LA about 15 years ago for #160.00...I know it had most likely been stolen, because he knew nothing about it...!
An old friend of mine Chas (Butch) Sanford had a custom strat made for him by these guys and it was awesome ! It was carveed limonated and bound top like a les paul...but it was a strat...it was a "neck-thru" and it was all gold hardward (floyd rose, etc...) I can't remember the pickup combination, but the sound knocked everyone out....I used him to do the guitar solos on the a few singles a client of mine cut with Deborah Allen (the country artist....) I think it was "Lets Stop Talkin' About It" and "Babe I Lied"...the later was a big hit...that I still haven't been paid on.....so what else is new ! ! !

Ck out the Performance Shop...it is very small, but very cool, the owners are Japanese, You know, those guys who made all those orig. great Charvels...! Real Craftsmen !

I'd say that was a nice score.
