Well, it very well could be a limited run Classic. I'm pretty sure that it had "Model" under "Les Paul and not "Classic." The neck was indeed a baseball bat!
Did Classic special runs have the green inlays and plastic? this one did not.

Baseball bat neck immediately rules out a Classic.
One other possibility is that this might be a "pre-historic". Any historics made between 1982 and 1992 were called this. I think they might have followed the numbering like a Classic, so the 7 would indicate a 1987 pre-historic.
I think you really should get a peak inside the neck pickup cavity to see what type of neck tenon it has.
