PRS SE opinions

The Single Cuts, the Santana's and the import CE's all get fantastic reviews and are very affordable. Any opinions?? I am kind of digging the Santana models.

I tried one with P90's in it, and it was a really nice player and sounded great. It really sounded like the deal. I'd have bought it if I could have snuck it in the house somehow! It was this year, maybe 2 months ago, I think.

I have a SE Soapbar II. It is one of the nicest guitars I have ever played. It is nice and light weight with a nice chunky neck(nice if you like chunky necks, I do!),sounds great, and looks great. I spent 3 years shopping for a P90 guitar and went through 3 Gibson LP Jrs, 3 SG Classics, Hamer USA Special, and tried all the other usual suspects for a P90 guitar in the stores including the Gibson DC Fadeds and Godins (to name a few). 3 years later when I stumbled across the PRS SE, I knew I had finally found THE P90 guitar for me. Last I checked Chuck Levins was selling the SE SBIIs for $399. Oh yea, the SEs come with the nicest gig bag ever...

I have an SE EG and it is a great guitar. The build quality is fantastic and the pickups sound great. The neck is of the wide/fat variety and feels just right. Great guitars.

Are the single coil pickups noisy? I have heard that the singles that PRS uses are noiseless. I am leaning either towards a singlecut or an EG.

They are not noiseless, but they are very quiet for a single coil. I have never been bothered by it in a live setting or experienced any comments about the noise.

I really love mine - it sounds righteous. The sound is darker than I expected, but it cuts really well. The lead pickup is just sweet and the neck p/u is fat and juicy.

I tried the SE, Singlecut and the SE EG and bought the EG, mainly because the majority of my guitars are dual hums. They were all very consitent and felt great, but I was looking for something different and the EG gave me a "quasi-strat" sound with a Les Paul feel.

Six months ago I picked up a metallic blue SE tremelo model w/black guard, two Hums off the bay for a friend's son's first guitar. Paid $375.00 shipped in a nice gig bag. After it arrived I proceeded to do a full clean-up/set-up. When I finished and plugged it in I was floored. What a great guitar! I almost didn't want to give it up. I thought it might be a fluke, a good one, but I've played a few others since and they were very consistant. I've been looking for a blue one like it since. I think the tremelo models sound better than the stop-tail versions, at least to my ears.

The Billy Martin and the Santana SE Camo are both Basswood. I usually don't have a problem with basswood but I think I would rather have solid mohagony on a PRS.
You just can't beat picking up one of these guitars for $400.00 and getting that REALLY nice gig bag. That has to be the nicest gig bag I have ever seen.

That camo is bad but it's still ten times better than the camo on the Christian Olde Wolbers model.
