  • Fender Relic / Custom Shop Dealers

Anybody have a recomendation for Fender Relic/ Custom Shop Dealers? I was looking for 1956 Fender Relic Two tone but I hate vintage frets. I wanted to get 6100 Dunlop size frets. I asked Musician Friend special order dept. and they quoted $3300 and another dealer said $2200!

Before you go down that road, may I suggest that you look at the Mark Knopfler sig strat?
57 body(ash) 62(slim) neck with modern frets, and you can get it for about 1300. Unless you are dead set on going custom shop, it seems like a cheaper way to achieve your goal.

Call the music gallery, I believe their site is www.musicgalleryinc.com
Ask for Frank Gliona, they stock tons of relic Fender CS stuff and this guy knows his stuff plus he is a super guy to deal with.
      Tell them Jose sent you.

I wanted a '56 relic recently and couldn't get past the frets hanging ever so slightly off the sides of the board. I was told that "necks dry, they're supposed to be like that". This was on maybe 8 different '56 Relics. The '56 NOS guitars were awesome though. I guess if you're going to pull the frets immediately it doesn't matter, but I don't think that I would buy a Fender Relic without playing it first.
