I'm the lone gunman, in the LP blows camp. All I ask is for a cigarette and a blindfold.

Re: LP vs. ESP Eclipse

I had an Eclipse a number of years ago - bolt on 24 fret, Floyd, EMG's and it was an awesome guitar. It looked like a Les Paul, but it was nothing like a Les Paul. I recently bought a sweet Standard with a 60's neck and it is everything I had been searching for in a LP. It took me a dozen years and three Les Paul's, but I finally found the one. Here's what you're looking for:
Tarbaby Fraser.

i got the cigarette for you dude. to me a les paul is like a charvel. they are not all amazing guitars, but when you have a magic one , there's just something incomparable about it. so i rephrase my input in this to that if the les paul is a magic one, forget it.

That is a great description and analogy. I had to sell my Les Paul, I am still not happy about it. I got it after shopping around for like a month going to guitar stores and trying out each one they had and I have indeed found the magic one for me. But I sold it...

Yeah, like Tommy said, some are better than others, but when it's right, they are incredible </font>

Re: LP vs. ESP Eclipse

Thanks for all the input. I'm borrowing Crushers LP Studio for a few days right now. It's got EMGs in it which is exactly how I would set mine up. This thing has a thick chunky tone that I absolutely love. I was considering an Eclipse II Standard because it was mohogany and came with EMGs so I thought it would sound comparable but I guess not. I'd still like to try one out but I'm leaning towards the LP at this point.

I agree. Look for a nice LP. I found my white 1992 LP Custom on ebay a couple years back for $1400. It is amazing. The action is effortless and the sound is thick and full with the PAF reissues.
