Wow.....Blackie does look great. That's another one that sums up what Charvels are all about to me....even if it is a parts mutt. That volume knob position does look a little weird to me though.
Kev,I thought there was no definitive answer re:the blue flame-tops body being a Charvel,no comfort bevels,screw locations,etc.??
& agreed Brian, that knob location on the black strat is very weird too!!
PV Mantis body, Charvel fusion neck. originaly 24.75 scale 23 fret, 24 fret Charvel neck with overhang, with a very minor modification. practically just a bolt on, much better than a PV strat head
Blackie used to be mine. It was the first strat head guitar I ever got. The neck is real nice on that guitar. That knob always bothered me in that position. I remember that Tim Rose (he built it) thought the body might have been a Jackson.

gtrbuyer-How does the mighty mite pickup sound on your mutt,I just ordered one on a guitar I'm buying.

The Mighty Mite pku is very powerful but sounds good and remains clear - does not break up at high volumes. I like it but I do roll the volume down to 8ish...
Not sure if this qualifies as a mutt - it's more of a beater rat guitar that cost me next to nothing. Not sure why, but it plays and sounds incredible - I keep coming back to this one. PUP is an old Dimarzio Super Distortion (?), OFR with D-Tuna.
