ok this may helpit maynot

US-1 mid86/91 balsa wood core, raised large logo, maple top
U-2 87/91 basswood body otherwise very similar to us-1
WRC 87-89 WRC or WC on truss rod cover bevelled cutaway, old style script logo earlies versions also had charvel logo on headstock.
SR-71 setneck version of the WRC LTD edition of 250.
also US-1 available with kahler, WRC Kahler spider used late88, no mention of the steinberger trem so im guess thats stock not the option.
there was also a showcase edition of the WRC Kahler, EMG, sperzels 250made 200US 50 INTL.

That locking trem was popular on the Epiphone LP copy looking things. They did not have the arch top and the side were rounded.....the bodies may have been plywood with a bolt on neck IIRC.-Lou

Well the one in question is a 1987 U2 without a doubt. The shop has it labeled as a WRC. It has the licensed Floyd with the flip levers. Now I just need to sell a couple of my project mutts to help pay for it.

The issue with the tremolo has nothing to do with the guitar being a U2, before someone points that out.
