Well after a long 28 month wait my Beast replica that GMW built for me is complete. And like many have said in the past about GMW's work I will repeat here. It was worth the wait. The neck profile on this axe is killer. It's probably the thickest neck of all the axes I own but also the most comfortable to play. Everything about this axe is perfect. Here's the specs.
5A flame maple archtop Beast
5A flame maple neck
Swamp ash wings
Walnut stringers
Ebony fretboard
Abalone body, abalone headstock binding with white neck binding
Abalone inlays
BadAss bridge
Duncan Custom(bridge) & 59(neck)
The color is called Raspberry. And it's extremely hard to photograph. Under Flourescent light it photographs kind of pink. Under normal light it photographs as red. It's definitely neither. The best pic that shows off the color is the full front one. The headstock in that pic is about as good as I can get the color to show in a pic. I would describe it as a trans red that has a kind of violet mist over top of it. Very cool looking up in real life. At any rate on to the pics.
Oh, and my thanks to the folks at MCS for doing an incredible job on the bone nut and fret work. Definitely an integral part of the way this axe plays.
