Re: GMW Beast Replica (Pic Heavy)

A couple of reason's crank daddy. Way back in December 2002 I had Matt at OSG submit some quotes to BC Rich for an archtop Beast. We never heard back from them with any prices or anything. That was when the custom shop was moving from California to Ohio. I was pretty frustrated and was talking to Brad Kelley about it. He had a BC Rich Beast and said he didn't like it at all. Said the quality was low and the neck felt like a baseball bat. He said GMW would do a much better job. I also talked to Stu about his Scythe and he also helped me decide to go GMW. I sent the quote form and got a response back on price within a day. The rest is history. Funny part is that an archtop Beast showed up at Matt's much to both our surprise. They just started building it without sending any kind of reply back to Matt about doing so. UPS ended up destroying that one when they shipped it to him.

            I love the logo.

I don't think I've ever seen attention to detail at that level before

man that's sweet....the headstock and matching inlay shapes is a nice touch. the logo does look great as others said and man the flame on the back of the neck is great too. overall a kick ass guitar! very nice!

Everything about the look of that guitar just FITS together so beautifully. Normally I would think something that ornate is a little over-the-top, but the dual binding actually looks VERY classy and the abalone trim doesn't detract from the flame top. However, if you look at a solid black ESP/LTD EC-1000 Eclipse Deluxe, its abalone binding is slightly distracting due to the plain black paint.

The logo is beautifully designed and executed and looks like a symmetrical logo for a black metal band, which again emphasizes how well all the elements fit together here. It's like the feng shui was totally with this guitar when you envisioned it.

The headstock is also extremely cool. It's not the usual B.C. Rich "scrotum holder" Widow headstock.

My only gripe is how large the control cavity looks for a simple volume/3-way/tone control layout. However, it's on the back of the guitar... nobody looks there.

My favorite photo as a photographer is #5. That's a nice closeup. The background is a little distracting in #1 to #4 but you took such nice pictures anyways, and at least you take the guitar to a well-lit area. People, LEARN from this when you photograph your guitars! This guitar would look like CRAP had Soloist1 not taken some time and effort to show it off properly.

How do you like the Badass bridge? Where do the ball-ends go, do they wrap under the bridge?

The BadAss bridge is great. I'm used to Floyded axes and there is no need to get used to this bridge at all. It feels perfect. Yup the ball ends are underneath up toward the bridge pickup. I can't take credit for the pics. My wife took those. I just prep the guitar. I'm actually thinking about changing jobs and doing photography prep work. I think I'll start by sending my resume to Playboy. lol The indoor, in the case pic, was taken with a flash but had a piece of white paper filtering the light from it.
