• Rand Guitars

I currently own 2 Rand guitars and I am always looking for more. I would also love to speak to other Rand owners to begin a database on these guitars. To the best of my knowledge, there were only approx. 63 of these guitars ever made, with a couple of one-offs made in different shapes (a v and a strange shape that was painted white with musical notes) and a couple of prototypes with either no markings or "Rand" written in silver sharpie on the headstock (like the yellow one that Vivian Campbell played in the "Is This Love" video). Any help/info would be greatly appreciated. Rob and Mitch from Philly, where are you?

RacerX owns an awesome one-off purple Rand V... he gathered a bunch of info a while ago and would probably be happy to share with you! Joel Drabicki here also recently sold one of his 27-fret Rands to a fellow member.

Got pictures of your Rands? If you need help posting photos, click on the red text in my signature below.

I think these are different. Ran and Rand are different companys.

I heard that there was only one V so that must be it. I'm new to the forum...how would I contact RacerX? I do have some pictures but they are on a different computer. I will post them in the near future.

I know the difference between Ran and Rand. Both RacerX and Joel have Rands. Ran is MichaelMadeja's ancestral homeland's guitar company.

The one I had was awesome. Best shred guitar I've owned. Built with amazing attention to detail.

                  Re: Rand Guitars

I am seriously considering buying one of these if I can find one at a decent price.

I like the roundness of the neck shape, the 27 fret neck, the fact that they have a Floyd Rose, etc...

Sort of reminds me of my Hamer Californian but more of a neck through design.

Anyone have an idea what a used one should go for?

What is the "Which" proto? Any pics? I would like any info so I can begin a Rand database.

i have spoken with mr. rand havener per email...finding him is a tougher task than it sounds...he has considered making a few new ones...there were some leftovers in his shop...but they would be pricey...if he surfaces again that is...d.m.

                          Yo Bill!!!!

Hey guys, Bill (Rupe) is an old friend of mine! He and I played in a band together back when we were going to Penn State. It's all his fault that I'm hooked on these guitars! Pretty much everything I know about 'em I heard from Rupe. Back in the day, he was playing a SWEEEEEET purple one (c'mon Bill, post some pics!) that I fell in love with. Of course he's still got her.

In case you guys have not seen my Rand proto, here's a pic:
