• Website for Fender info..this has been bugging me

I posted awhile ago about this, but hey, wtf, why not again.

Okay, that's the headstock of my USA strat.

    This is the body

I know the guitar is a 1995, USA Standard strat (based upon the serial number).

But...look closely at my logo...it looks like it's a slide decal put over the finish, and it says made in the US, NO where on the neck.

I don't know that the neck was refined, I don't think it was. I've had it for almost 3 years now.

Just wondering, did Fender ever put logos on their strats...without the USA on it? The numbers match up all over the guitar, the neck pocket, and body match, and even the original pickguard had a piece of tape on the inside, with the same dates on it.

Help, it's not a big deal, but has been bugging the hell out of me!

I'm kinda puzzled here.. the serial number you mention is on the back of the headstock I suppose?
The pickguard, pups (except middle maybe) and knobs are aftermarkt, but this can be an American Deluxe (Fat) Strat, an American Hot Rodded Strat or an American Series Strat.
Normally the serial would be on the back of the headstock, with or without made in usa under it.

I can't say for sure, but this looks like a neck from one of the MIJ 50's reissue strats.

I was thinking the same thing, the custom body on the headstock is what makes me think it is not american.

yes, it's almost certainly an american neck, from the look of the nut and frets, the models I've mentioned all have a similar neck and decal.. you can check the Fender catalogs too, I did, hehe

From the pics it looks like a typical post '95 American Standard neck. However, american Standards from the beginning have had the decals under the finish. Americans Standards didn't recieve the "Original Countour Body" decal until the very last few which were more of a American Series than a American Standard, a transitional model from '99 IIRC.

The pickguard, the pickups (except for the middle) the knobs, the switch, the input jack (not the metal plate itself) the naked woman, and the stars are ALL after market. I did the mods myself.

Current config (and has been since I've done the work)

Lil 59, and Seymour Duncan Distortion. Middle pickup is out of the circuitry, and lowered to the pickguard (I hate middle pickups). There is 3 knobs, however, only one is wired. It's a 500KOhm CTS pot, to a 3 way USA Switch. The switch is, Bottom Bridge, Middle both, Top neck. The tone controls are NOT hooked up. The naked woman is exactly that, a naked woman. The stars are from some magic store.

The body, and neck have matching, legit numbers. The serial number is indeed a 95 (N5 and some other numbers, I can't remember OTTOMH). There is a skunk stripe in the back. It's 22 frets, not 21 like a lot of imports. It is a USA neck as far as I'm concered, just the logo makes me wonder sometimes.

The serial number is on the back of the headstock.

I'm the 3rd owner of this guitar. I know that it was a Standard Strat (3 singles) then after I got my hands on it...it became a monster strat!

everything looks legit but the fact that the logo is falling off and not burried under clear is very odd. perhaps the front of the headstock was refinished at one point? are there any signs of that?

Nope, headstock wasn't refinished as far as I can tell.

hmmmm if the headstock has no signs of a refin, i'm not sure why the decal was able to flake off like that. i've never seen a modern strat with a stock logo on top of the clear. your best bet is to ask the guys on www.fenderforum.com like toejam suggested. that's another one of those oddball things i haven't come across in my personal fender guitars.
