i only have jackson but i really want a les paul, i was thinking an epiphone les paul custom..but im worried about the quality...i mean..like frets and body work...not really electronics cause i would change that out anyway. ..i know your all gonna say get an edwards...or an esp..but i have never ebayed over seas before ..and it seems kinda risky. ..i dont really like the idea... so..back to the main question...are epiphone les paul customs..any good... and how about the weight on the guitar...does it weigh an assload.....? i like heavy guitars

Re: does epiphone suck?
imo,. epis are like gibsons in that you have to play a few of them before you find a good one. i had one, and it was okay. i wouldn't get an agile if i wanted an lp because it's not lp looking enough for my taste. that said, epi's headstock always made my sack twitch.

Re: does epiphone suck?
i like my agile. i am playing it right now. i found epi's too inconsistent. i gambled on the agile, and maybe i got a good one, but it KILLS epiphone.GEAR:
some guitars...WITH STRINGS!!!! most of them have those sticks like on guitar hero....AWESOME!!!!
some amps...they have some glowing bottle like things in them...i think my amps do that modelling thing....COOL, huh?!?!?!
and finally....
i have those little plastic "chips" used to hit the strings...WHOA!!!!

Re: does epiphone suck?
Go hunt around for a Samick LP copy from around 1996.
They were dead on copies of the USA models.
Headstock shape and all.
They are the guys that actually make most of the current Epiphone line for Gibson.
I used to sell them as cheap knock offs in the shop. One day I decided to play one. Really nice. Then Gibson said knock it off (no pun intended) or they would find a new builder.
I still see them every once and a while.-Rick

Re: does epiphone suck?
for let's say $470 or less, an awesome Edwards LP can be had from japan. If you buy from a recognized seller from Japan, there really is no risk at all. I am very sure Alex and Toru could point you to the right dealers/sellers on ebay and give some more info on the edwards! Try pm'ing them and ask, it's only a matter of time before they post in this thread anyways! You took too much, man. Too much. Too much.

Nobody mentioned them... because the few people who usually do are idiots, and ESP/Edwards guitars blow! I'll gladly buy more to prevent others from playing these utter atrocities...
Here's the list of sellers whose inventories I like to keep an eye on every few days or so. All of them are from Japan unfortunately, so the shipping is usually about $120 or so to ship to North America, not including duties and other import fees, so look for an inexpensive guitar to justify the import cost.
On to the list! One of them is an American guy living in Japan and picks out the best ones to smuggle out of Japan... shhhhhhhh!

Sorry rjohnstone, not trying to flame you here, but coming from a Samick Owner...
Dude, Samick is just a bad way to go. Some day, you'll find that you'll want to get rid of it, and will have to sette for $50 from a pawn shop. Unless you get a high end Samick guitar, you're going to settle for a complete piece of shit. Not quality guitars at all, problems all over the fucking place. They hold together okay, but you get this annoying little problem that refuses to go away. For me, it was my tremolo and horrible action. I could not get it to go down. I changed nuts (don't even), adjusted the truss rod, and anything else I could think of. I lubricated the trem, and it would still squeak.
The worst part about it all is that you'll go to hock it off someday and get $25 back from it. It's not worth your time dude. That's all anybody would offer for mine around here. Then again, I live in a smaller community and you may be able to get some more prospects, but don't plan on getting lucky.
If Epiphone and Samick become your only options, go for the Epiphone. At least the Epiphone won't devalue clear down to $25.
Again sorry rjohnstone, I'm not trying to flame you!
