Just had an EPIPHANY about EPIPHONE...

    Just had an EPIPHANY about EPIPHONE...

    I've always hated the way people pronounce Epiphone. Eh-Pih-Fone. Eccccchhhh! [img]/images/graemlins/sick.gif[/img]

    Then, something dawned on me. Eh-Pih-Fone is such an ugly word that MAYBE there's a faint chance that Epiphone was pronounced like EPIPHANY, much like Persephone is pronounced Per-Sef-Oh-Nee and NOT Per-Seh-Fone. [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

    I swear, I'm not high. [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] Wanna shed some light about Epiphone's history, other than the fact that it was named after Epaminondas (Epi) Stathopoulo? [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

    I went to high school with a 'Nationally Recognized Country singer'. I had to laugh when he 'grew' a country accent after we graduated and he switched from Prince covers to Country, but then on the radio he was talking about his new 'EPIPHANY' the guys on the talk show were musicians of 30+ years and nearly laughed him out of the radio room!

        I've never heard anybody call it an Epiphany. Maybe they had and I thought it was an actual guitar brand all on its own. [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

          I had an epiphany. I was sitting at the piano, and stumbled upon chord inversions, and applied them to a chord progression I was working on.

          I had another one when I finally grasped how the various modes correspond to particular chords (Aeolian = minor 7th, Locrian = half-diminished, etc.).

          Never had an Epiphone, though.

          Although I actually do like NOTP's theory.

                      I don't know why I make myself look more like an idiot than I already am, but I JUST remembered that the very first time I read the name "Les Paul", I actually pronounced the "Les" the way "les" is said in French (like "les crayons").
