Telecaster question, help :)

One of my friends bought a used Mexican Telecaster. I really understand nothing from those guitars ,all seem the same to me [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img] The neckplate is missing, in fact it's not missing but it has been replaced by a blank one...

We thought that the body might have been changed. So we're trying to find out if it's the original body or not.

If there is a way we can learn the body color of the guitar from the serial number, can you please tell me or give a link?

Or is there any other way we can check the originality of the body?

I can tell you that it's NOT possible to know the color of the serial number. The color code is written in the product identification code, usually written on the hang tag

How do you know the neck plate was swapped? They're all blank except on some limited runs and certain reissues.

Why do you think the body is changed?

Does the rest of the hardware match what your see at a store? (every GC in the country has a half dozen of these).
