The Vance Custom

This guitar was built by Russ Vance, who built my Red/Blackburst 24fret guitar in 2002. He ended up making a PRS replica for his nephew and liked some of the design principles. A few changes and we have the guitar you see hear, just completed for another local guy.
The body is one piece mahogany and the logo is actually a few mm thick and is a fully lasercut inlay in the headstock. I love how the little hole in the "e" was left intact.

Another thing I like about this guitar, natural binding. I love natural binding, it just looks really nice especially with a thick cap.

I wondered about them and asked Russ what they were about. From memory he said something about headstock strength, they are ebony stripes which strengthen the headstock there against breakage. Or something like that. [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]
