page. With that he incorporates a sculpted heel fro good upper playability. I think it's a damn good idea!

That is pretty cool. You don't see much innovation when it comes to neck pocket design.

Looks like someone tried to make a setneck and fucked it up!

I'd be curious to see how that neck tappers into the pocket.

Interesting.... Could go both ways..... The shape has less surface contact, that´s theoretically bad.... but properly made it could pan out well.... But currently it really does look like someone was trying a set neck and screwed up

Re: interesting new Neck fitting from Anderson Gui

Isn't the theory that the more solid contact that the neck has with the body = better sustain?

I dunno..

Re: interesting new Neck fitting from Anderson Gui

Well, yes, but again, correctly done I don´t see why it should be notably worse...

I´m more concerned about the neck "skewing" in the pocket due to imporperly dried woods or bad craftsmanship or minor flaws anywhere in or near the joint... not that I´m saying or implying that TA has either problem, definite "No" there... but those are the 2 things that will make it or kill it....

I personally think a second bolt at the butt end wouldn´t be a bad idea, as it would create even pressure at the most important contact /pivotal point....

*EDIT* To be honest, while its a redesign and R&D costs money, it comehow strikes me as a cost cutting measure... Less wood needed for the neck, not necessary to remove as much wood from the body, and can be used as an effective advertising ploy, as well as making a few things possible that weren´t earlier... But regardless of where the Idea originated, it´s not a bad one...

That actually looks kinda interesting to me, but I hear the concerns. I wonder how stable etc. it will be if the tolerances are off on a production model?

Re: interesting new Neck fitting from Anderson Gui

Agreed on the set-neck-gone-wrong theory

Will this be used on import/CNC-made models? If it is I'm sure they've got something in place to monitor the tolerances.

And it's not that much of a cost savings - retooling costs as much or more than the Status Quo in most cases, especially when you factor in R&D and downtime for training in the new process.

That said, I don't know why the Nuno heel bolt assembly wasn't adopted by everyone - seemed like that was the perfect answer to a neckthrough-type bolt-on heel.
Musta been the limited secondary market neck options.
