Re: Tacoma Acoustics vs Breedlove
I don't care for the Breedloves. They seem to have dead zones. Are you looking to spend boutique $$$? Tried Santa Cruz? I like them the best of the high end acoustics.
Don't know if you are set on one of these brands, but I'm liking the recent Martins. Don't know if it is just that my shop is starting to get a different selection, or what.

Re: Tacoma Acoustics vs Breedlove
I work for a Tacoma dealer. Their range is inconsistent. Some models are generally outstanding, others are tonally dead. The higher end Breedloves are generally a lot nicer, though every once in a while, I hit one that doesn't have it.
I'm more of an SCGC/Bourgeois/Goodall/Greven/Gallagher fan.

I have played a dozen or more Breedloves and I have never noticed this on any of their US guitars (the Atlas series is another story but still alot of bang for the buck). I have owned numerous Martins and Gibsons and found them far more inconsistent than Breedloves. In fact, I just sold a Bourgeois JOMC (the best SOUNDING cutaway acoustic I have ever heard) to add a Breedlove to my collection (you can see this guitar in the "Unplugged" thread in this forum from about 2 weeks ago). Although it is not as big sounding as JOMC, it still sounds fantastic, has no "dead zones", and its playability is unmatched. If you have the $, Breedlove makes a fine instrument. The key is to play as many guiars as possible from all manufacturers and let your fingers and ears make the decision.

On the high end, you can't go wrong with Santa Cruz, Collings, or Lowden
[/ QUOTE ] Those are all great builders, but there are many, many more that deserve consideration such as Huss and Dalton, Bourgeois, Guild, Froggy Bottom, Petros, Ryan, L Benito, and the list goes on. I happen to love my Breedlove and chose it over many of these others.
