  • Anyone make Ernie Ball EVH/Axis headstock necks

    I bought this:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=7334742127

Despite a few issues and some whack-ass pickup rings, it seems like a fair amount of quilt for $85, plus I wanted to try this body shape.

Now I need a neck. Unfortunately Warmoth does not sculpt the heel like Ernie Ball does, but that just means it'll be easier to find a neck.

I thought Warmoth used to make this style headstock, but I guess I am wrong.

I see the OLP ones on ebay all the time. But I dont know if they would be worth your while. Maybe after some fret work?

I know Warmoth used to make a matching EVH neck for that body, because I used to own a Warmoth EVH guitar. In fact, based on the scribbling in the cavity, it may have been the *exact* body that you just bought. The color is exactly the same, as well.

I don't recall mine having pickup rings, but those could have been added later. I don't know why someone would have liberated the neck, because it was a very nice one. Mine was awesome sounding, and a great-playing axe, better than any Axis I've ever played. It was put together by a really amazing local player here in the DC area whose name escapes me--I bought it at Atomic Music in College Park MD and eventually sold it back to them. I saw it pop up in that shop again at least once or twice after that, but it's been gone for awhile. There would have been no good reason to part it out that I can see, as I don't think the neck would have been compatible with a strat.

I have bought a EBMM headstock neck from Warmoth. It was considered a custom shape and ran about $35 extra.

I got this body yesterday...these things are small...It's like a little baby guitar! It just so happens that a EBMM-style neck poped up on the Warmoth showcase the day I got the body, but its $260...pretty steep. Unfortunately the neck humbucker got routed out a bit so I will probably have to keep the humbucker rings on. Otherwise it seems like a good deal for $100 shipped.
