Re: Brad Gillis = What a predicament!

After seeing what he did to his current one I would NEVER let him borrow it. Do you have any idea what a toured guitar goes through?? Holy crap bro. I guess when you get it back from him you can show off all the damage he caused when he toured with it but that doesn't sound very cool.. does it?

Re: Brad Gillis = What a predicament!

Just for this one show. Make sure YOU are there every step of the way as a "handler", so to speak. None of this, "Let us take the guitar and we'll get a hold of you after the show" stuff.

I'm not implying that Brad or any of his people would do anything shady, but if it were my rare guitar at a large show, I'd want to be near it 24/7. You're not the only one who knows how rare it is.

I don't let my guitars out of my sight at small gigs!

Nice guitar. Yea, I would hang on to it. I agree with Chuck and the other above. If he wants let him play it, but get the documentation.
Just curious, what is the mini toggle switch for on the jackplate? I also noticed in the pic you are as careful as myself on finishes and have a towel between the guitar and stand. Funny, I do that all the time.

OK, I made the offer to have him use it at Musikfest only (and I joked about his guitar tech giving me a receipt so I'll get it back). I offered to set it up to his specs as well this Saturday and I told him he'd have it by soundcheck on Thursday in exchange for a couple of passes. I'll post what he says if and when he responds. Thanks for all your input gents. Always appreciated

The toggle is a sustainer system and adds a bit more distortion. I can hold a note forever. You see, there are two inputs on this model. One on the plate and one offset side input (not in the usual position) more toward the middle on the body. You can see it if you look closely under the second tone pot. And yes, I'm anal too! It's a nice guitar and if you don't want to part with it I wouldn't. Its a cool guitar and an easy one to make a replica of imho...if you can turn a nice profit and and make him happy as well -- sell it

Re: Brad Gillis = What a predicament!

If he really wants it for playing live and/or recording, I would sell it to him as long as he pays fair "market".

I'm sorry, but it's HIS signature model and he'd put it to damn good use. As an amatuer/collector/player/whatever-you-want-to-call-it, I would willingly take a back seat to that any day, as long as I was reasonably compensated.

If he wants it just to add to his "collection", I'd tell him to pound salt.

Well, I'll let him test drive it first. I think he'll love it. I just plugged it in and it's like budda. I can see why he wants a fresh one...

Re: Brad Gillis = What a predicament!

Any one of a dozen guitar companies could make him one or ten of those if he really wanted them to. Obviously it's not that important to him or there would be more of these. Hell, Fernandes could build him some, or have them contracted out or whatever. Again, this hasn't happened, so it's not like he needs it to express his artistic vision.

I don't mean to slight Brad, who by all accounts is a great guy, but a guy in his position can come up with just about anything he wants with one phone call. Guys in your and my position have to scrimp and save, and then get real lucky with a score.

Hang on to that geetar, Bro!

I wonder which Hard Rock has this one?

However, the one in this photo doesn't have Brad's sustainer system.

So Chuck- are you saying it's just a 'convenience' sort-of-thing? Or is it that he's looking for another original?

I'm sure he'd really like the guitar, but it's not as if he can't play anything else.

It would just be a back-up guitar.

Of course Chuck, but then there's 'mojo'

Brad doesn't use Roman's custom pearlcaster because he didn't like the way it played after a while, for example.

BTW, Jeff Watson just wrote me. We're in for at least aftershow it looks like, fwiw

Hopefully they'll be more
