Depending on how you feel about the guitar, i would say do one of two things. If you are only a collector and the guitar sits in a case most of the time, then sell/trade it to him. But if you play that sucker alot, then screw him! GUITARS are ment to be played!

Brad Gillis may still be a hero to a buncha geetar players, but I seriously doubt he could just pick up the phone and have manufacturers falling over themselves to give him free or cheap replicas.
ESP might be glad to have him since they seem to have an 80's fetish, but in reality, Gibson, Jackson, Fender, Ibanez, Dean, and Hamer don't see him as a marketing force.
Maybe First Act would sign him up, or Jay Turser. Fernandes might, ya never know.

Lemme ask you guys this:
If Rhoads was in the same boat as Gillis is right now, and asked to buy an LTD or PCS RR from you for a reunion tour, would you sell it?

He's got a couple of cool San Dimas Jacksons he's had forever. I'd go for one of those.

Either one of those guitars are far better than a Fernandes.

Well, if I took the trade, I couldn't sell it. Who would sell an artists' used guitar once acquired? It's a death-till-you-part scenario from my perspective. I'm really looking for historical value and not so much dollar value or aesthetics.

Maybe I'm the greedy bastard, but if a rock star wanted to trade me something that I enjoyed playing, in return for one of his, I'd pick the one that would make me the most amount of money when I resell it, and I would most certainly resell it. I don't care if he's a nice guy or not, it's strictly business at that point, because you're not talking about a guitar anymore--you're talking about a valuable commodity.

I'd sell to the right person, and use the money to have exactly the instrument I wanted built for me. Think about, Brad Gillis is basicly a stranger, right? It's not like you're over at his house, drinking beer when you're in town. Being that that's the case, you treat him like anyone else that was looking to buy something from you. Strictly business. He's just a musician who happened to make it, no more, no less. It's not like you're dealing in slave trade, it's just a guitar.
