    Re: My new korina V

Like someone mentioned earlier, "Korina" is a name made up by Gibson...the real wood is White Limba, and Limba is just a variety of Mahogany. Way too much hype is taking place about the tonal qualities of Korina. It is really no different than mahagany and it will depend on the charactaristics of the piece of wood as to the tonal quality...both can sound equally great or crappy.

Yea limba black or white is generally not much different from mahogany to my ears. Well oddly enough I have never played white limba (even though thats the more common) but I hear its the same. I don't think its quite as structurally sound as honduras mahogany but its not as heavy either. So eh. Either way its looks like a nice guitar.

Limba is tonally very similar to mahogany, just lighter.
