I'm suprised more people aren't dealing with these guys. Maybe the international thing is a deterrent but the prices seem very reasonable for the level of customization.

did you read that whole thread in btwn the pics? they had customs problems sending the neck and materials over to the company, had to pay to get it out, posts back and forth, then they posted the wrong pic of the body, it was funny.
that website is russian, so this is a russian guitar maker? the work did look nice, if you like that kind of guitar design (body binding, painted pickups, etc). but a russian company? thanks but no thanks. too many quality and international issues going on there. russian electronics generally suck big ass. the guitar players look damaged - they've been outcasts all their lives

This is the place that stole pics of my friends Ken Lawrence guitars that they designed not Hetfield and copied them. I for one would not do business with them there was a huge thread somewhere about them stealing ideas and designs, especially the KL guitars.

Well that was because of that particular custom, if you look at alot of the other thread no problems. But looking at the guitars it also seems they do alot of "clone" customs. I saw a couple beasts, a copy or two of a KL, and some others. What interesting is they don't disabuse people of the notion that they are using those designs. The only companies they won't copy designs from seems to be gibson (and even then they still have some single cut les paul like guitars. But let me be honest. I don't really care. Guitar designs that are even "original" usually are just variants of prexisting designs from the companies that originated them. If you look at the new BE JR. guitars those are very similar to the guitars his father designed for BC Rich. If you look at Lee's gallery of customs alot of those are "knock-offs" of major designs. The important things to me anyways are quality of work and value. The biggest factor for me is the russian thing (not the fact that they are russian but just customs, and everything else). Because it seems they will literally do anything you want, and if they don't have it you can supply it and they will. I saw one guitar in there with a Cocobolo neck, I don't think I've ever seen that on a electic as its notoriously difficult to work with.
While I don't approve at all of "stealing" designs of guitars especially from small luthiers like Ken Lawrence, what was the context in which this occured? Did someone order a custom "KL" or did they actively go out and steal it for a production line model? Because from looking around the site, I don't see that they have a production line. Their creation series seem to just be uncommissioned custom shops (which are unfinished anyways). So if someone swiped a pic of a KL and sent it to Shamray for their own custom, I don't see the problem.
