• Edwards Explorer

Seems like this brand has become pretty popular here at JCF lately.

So, another accidently eBay score popped in today. Waited for me at the doorstep, the neighbour once again had signed for a big box to me. I think she starts to wonder what all this is about, she´s a supercool 75 year old granny BTW.

Lawsuit model of course, set neck, mahogany, 2xEMG81 and a satin black/brown dye. 100% mint

Katana guitars shipped this one fast and very well packed..

Re: Edwards Explorer

Very good craftmanship, that´s for sure.

I´ve only had it for a few hours and haven´t played it much yet. JCF have first priority y´know..

Anyhow, neck feels a little different, just don´t know what it is yet..
Sounds good, maybe a little thin.?.
This is actually the first time ever I play on a Explorer shaped guitar.
Probably won´t be a much used player to me, but it looks good in the collection

And in a few days the Mirror Rhoads knocks on my door, life is good!!

That's really cool lookin dude. I've got a thing for the Explorer body shape myself. My main guitar is a Gibson Gothic Explorer. One of these good ol' days I'm gonna grab me one of those MX-250's I think they are. Ebony board w/ dot inlays, longer scale than my Gibson (I hope) which I'm glad for. Nice score though dude, I like that natural wood lookin finish

In my evil satisfied cult-leader laughter, I take great pleasure in showing new inductees to the dark side of Edwards guitars... laugh with me now, MWA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HAAAAAAA!!!!!

NOTP, thought you would drop by

I´d love to see a ebony board on it, but at least the rosewood is a bit darker than what it looks like on the pics. Might be the blitz...

Re: Edwards Explorer

Looks nice man. I'll take her off your hands in a couple of months if you decide she's just a dustcollector!

Concerning the thin sounding tonality, it might be the EMG's. How's the weight of the guitar? If it's relatively light, it'll be a warmer sounding mahogany and vice versa.

Try changing your ampsettings to accomodate the shrill, trebley and imho also thin sounding EMG's. If that doesn't do it, I suggest and 85 in the bridge and an 89 in the neck. That will fatten the tone up!
You took too much, man. Too much. Too much.

Re: Edwards Explorer

That's like my signature EMG combination. It also happened to be in an Explorer-shaped guitar, my old Jackson KE3! What a kickass sound that guitar had. There's some theory floating around that I keep reading more frequently on the JCF lately, that if you have a lot of body wood behind/around the bridge, your tone is generally thicker/fatter than guitars that don't have as much wood behind the bridge like a Rhoads/KV. I've only ever owned classic-shaped guitars and the KE3 so I can't do anything to prove this theory though...

I generally don't believe such wild hooey theories like those until I do test them myself though.

Congrats!

If that thing sounds thin when plugged in, it is probably the EMGs. Drop an EMG 85 on the bridge and you will be set!
