• New Family Member - Schecter Hellraiser

Here's a pic of my newest family member:

The only thing I've done to it is put Schaller straplocks and swap the 81 and the 85's positions (85 bridge, 81 neck).

I'll see how the new pickups combo sounds at my show tonight, but I'll probably end up with a SD Distortion/Jazz combo.

Let me know what you think!

Awesome! I've been eyeballing those myself. I have a C-1 Blackjack that I love. I'm sure you'll be very happy together!

      I want one.
The Hellraiser in red is amongst my favorite guitars at the moment. Simply gorgeous, for a great price. How much did you pay for yours if I may ask?

I paid $646 at a local music store, which is a great deal for an all mahogany guitar with a quilted maple top and real EMGs I also have a PT Blackjack, which is the best playing guitar I've ever tried. Every time my band plays, both of my Schecters get quite a few comments. I'll get my guitars together tomorrow and post a group photo. Now it's time to work on that Schecter endorsement!

Re: New Family Member - Schecter Hellraiser

in my opinion Schecters are the best quality import guitars on the market..yes I like them better than jackson imports. But to be fair jackson imports aren't trying for the upscale import market. With the lone exception of the new import signature models, which I haven't played but I hear are damn near equal to USA selects. Anyways, incredible guitars for the value and they look incredible and play just as good as they look. Someone (Zerberus? ) said they were made in the same factory as the ESP and Samick which I found hard to believe because well ESP's suck

The import Deans are very good too. But I prefer the Schecter neck profile.

This is not the exact guitar my friend has, his is their double cut one..the model name is escaping me. But its an elite model. I thought I wouldn't like the emg's but actually they didn't overpower the natural tone of the guitar in my opinion. I was pleasantly suprised.

As far as I know: Schecters, BC Rich imports and LTDs are made in the Samick factory, Korea.

thats amazing considering the dubious quality of LTD, Samick and BC Rich imports.

I am guessing the difference might stem from the fact that Schecters are inspected and setup in the US(pure speculation on my part, maybe it is just your luck of the draw)

Honestly I have no problem with Samicks, but I am pretty unimpressed by LTDs or BC Rich imports(except the earliest MIJ Neck-thru NJs anyways)...

Congrats. That's pretty sweet!! Schecters indeed rock. I recently got a 007 Elite (the H/S version) and love it. I wish they used real Duncans or EMGs in all their models. The Duncan Designed pups in mine sounded decent but were a little too weak in output, so now I've got a Duncan Custom and a DiMarzio Blaze. I think I eventually want a Hellraiser, too.

Re: New Family Member - Schecter Hellraiser

I am assuming that the Schecters and LTDs are made in the same factory, as my bass player's LTD basses have the exact same headstock and neck profile as both of my Schecters. I think the difference is in the setup. Both Schecters were absolutely perfect right off the shelf. My PT Blackjack's action was higher than I was used to, but I figured I'd give it a try and once I got used to it, I found that I actually prefer a slightly higher action. But, I honestly can't find any fault with either guitar.

The way Samick opperates is, a company contracts them to make thier Import line to said companies specs, so one brand may be cheaper or better than the next, because this is how they(company) speced out and contracted with Samick to make it as. Schecter probably contracts Samick to put higher quality into their stuff. Jack.
