  • New Ibanez PII

Well I always wanted one of these back in the day (circa 1990-91) but at the time went for a 540S ltd instead. So this one popped up on Ebay and I bit.
It has been refinished to Ferrari Red. I was told before the finish was in rough shape. Pretty darn close to being a factory finish paint job. Its not as mirror perfect and has a few slight air bubbles but still a good job.

The Fretboard is amazingly clean and the frets look new. Theres a few dings on the neck and some wear on the trem which is typical for Ibanez hardware.

Also not the stock volume knob as u can see and I dont believe the bridge pickup is the original IBZF3 is it?
It sounds much hotter maybe a Duncan Distortion?
Anyways I forgot how fast these necks were and the tempermental trems they have. Overall I'm happy with it with and probably would only like it better in that old neon yellow green/Chartreuse finish they used to come in.

              Re: New Ibanez PII

Thanx all, yeah I know these seem to be rare so when I saw this one I jumped on it. I was surprised that the Ibanez/PII collectors didnt scoop it up sooner. Maybe cuz it wasnt totally original being refinished and all.

Neilli thats the color I was refering to at the end of the post ,the neon yellow with a hint of green. I dunno why but I remember going to local guitar stores when these were out and seeing it in that color thinking it looked soo cool.
I'm working on getting a Demon made actually so that will be quite the pair. Although I'm sure the Jackson craftmanship will outshine this. This will help tide me over during the dreaded customshop wait.

                  Re: New Ibanez PII

That pickup looks like a DiMarzio to me, especially with the green showing through (or is that a trick of the light?)

                    Re: New Ibanez PII

hmmm Yes it does have green showing thru on the bridge pickup. So I take it thats a sign of a Dimarzio? its a pretty hot/bright pickup.
I dont have any Dimarzio's in any of my other guitars so I dunno what it is, but its definately not the stock Ibanez pickup. (usaIBZ F3?) but werent those made by Dimarzio?

ooooh wow another pops up so soon on Ebay. Thats the same finish my old Saber 540 ltd was. That one looks to be in very good condition aswell. I'd be all over that if I didnt just buy this one, HAHAHA.
I'm not sure about the nut I havent measured it or anything but I seem to recall hearing something about them being different / wider maybe?

Congrats, that is sweet. I always liked those but like you said, the neon yellow would make it perfect.
