Re: Les Paul custom, need some advice
to my eyes, and from that picture only, those cracks are just in the finish. looks like a stress crack that goes along underneath the binding line, and to me, would support what the seller is saying. this isn't a deal breaker by any means and can be easily fixed by some super glue and sandpaper. again, this is the only pic that i've seen.
...is the seller a member here? that green recto looks familiar.

Re: Les Paul custom, need some advice
oh, and i admittedly don't know shit about custom lites, but i'd say that there's a reason why they don't make them anymore. i'd go for a regular one that's nice and heavy.

I know next to nothing about them to be honest....I've only seen one in person, but it was a horrendous salmon pink color
I think they were made only for a very short period of time IIRC....
Ken (WarriorX7) knows a bit about them I think

Re: Les Paul custom, need some advice
The Les Paul Custom Lites in white/creme or whatever that color is, isn't that the rarest color they come in? There's black, salmon pink, white/creme, and cherry sunburst. Gold exists, but I've only seen gold on a Les Paul Custom Showcase Edition or whatever they're called. Same thin body.

They were made for 3 years, i own one and had one with a floyd i sold. They Just never caught on with the public so they stopped making them. Better Guitars then the regular customs i will go in depth later when i have more time.

Re: Les Paul custom, need some advice
It looks like finish damage only...I can't see any signs of a true crack. This is one of the more rare finishes for this model. If you like it and want it as a player, I would go for it. I doubt that these will ever appreciate that much though so I wouldn't but it to add to a collection; they were a dud for Gibson and didn't sound like a typical custom...more of a nasally mid range tone (I've played 3 of these in the past and they all had that charactaristic).

Great guitar with good midrange, missing the highs because of the lack of maple top, just a slab of mahogany. Personaly i love mine and would never sell it, doesnt kill my back at all.

get a money order for $700.00 and tell him there is a stress crack in your bank account.

He is actually a very honest guy and very up front, he is not trying to screw anyone. He has offered it to me basically 1280 shipped.

If it's a Les Paul Custom Lite, it's core is made of Balsa. Expensive, light, easy to carve, but 100000% not a tone wood.
[/ QUOTE ]
No that's not it. Those are the Studio Lites afaik. Custom Lites are lighter because they are only 2/3 times as thick as normal ones and have a belly contour.

Re: Les Paul custom, need some advice
Correct Veliyasin. Newc reported that he passed on a few inexpensive Les Paul Custom Lites because he thought they had the chromyte/balsa sandwiched body like the Les Paul Studio Lites and found out that it's not true.

Yep...I know LPCL's...I've owned the same one twice in a row with a 4 year difference.
I'd pass on this one at the price. There may be a nighmare lurking below those cracks, and you can buy minty LPCL's all day for for the price he's asking. I must admit, even though I know they made them in white... I've never seen one.
Which makes this more of a shame, because they are remarkably rare. I'd say move one, and find one in better condition.
Also, just to confirm, they do NOT have the Chromyte (balsa) core like the Studio Lite series. Newcster shouldda checked with me on that one. He knew I owned one.

I might take it for 1250, i havent decided yet, i am also considering custom shopping one. As to the body i have owned two of these now and done alot of research, and basically they are just solid mahogony with no maple cap.
