  • New Schecter PT look at plate & rear cavity

I was browsing online & found pics of a brand new Schecter PT tele.

Look at the neckplate & the rear cavity rout.

    Looks very Charvel inspired.

I think these details are new.....I've seen other recent ones & I believe they were different.

i think shcecter has been using that charvel style cavity route for a while on their bolt on guitars and a different route shape on the set neck guitars. as for the neckplate, that does seem kinda new but i have seen it before a few times. althought the thin engraved ones are more common so that does make me think you're right about that being new. also if you look at some of the 80s schecters they have that same route shape but it is used upside down as seen here...

The old style rout is similar in shape, but it is much smaller.

Here's a clearer pic of one:

I agree....that headstock ruins the whole thing.

What the hell, is that a cocobolo neck in that last picture? Sure looks like it.

wasnt shecter and charvel kind of partners in the early days i think they shared a lot of parts or something like that and it had something to do with wayne going bankrupt to get out of the deal so maybe shecter is trying to get in on the whole charvel comeback buzz.

What's the deal with the two bottom strap buttons on the green tele?

Schecter Tele's rule! I love mine.

Re: New Schecter PT look at plate & rear cavity

the dual strap button thing comes from Tom Anderson when he worked at schecter in texas USA from roughly '79-84. from what i've been told/read he likes to lean his guitars on amps and not use stands so he used 2 strap buttons so when you lean it on an amp it doesn't wobble and fall over.

My 1982 USA made strat head schecter has twin buttons also...

these Texas USA made strat head and tele head schecters are right up there with strat head charvels IMO and are just hands down killer guiars!

I've always heard good things about USA schecters but the only place I know of that carries them is DCGL and the ones that show up there tend to be NAMM pieces and are often somewhat odd. There was one awhile back that I really liked but I had no money to spend on it. It was all koa neck thru Omen style body with a amber Flame archtop and flame koa binding and inlays. I'm sure it was very expensive though. I'd love to play one of those USA schecters sometime though, they seem to have a great rep.

Damn Shawn, I don't think I've ever seen that much figure in a guitar neck (on your 25th anniversary). Wow!
If only I had back the money I gave that TV preacher....

DCGL has a ton of old schecter bodies from the 80-s and 90's, along with some schecter necks that are killer.YOu could build your own usa schecter from his stash, they are for sale, just ask jason. They are'nt listed on his site, but ive seen them and theres a yellow one and a burgandy mist one that i would love to have.

I know where there is a US Schecter Tele, just like the one at the top of this thread, for $900 or so. Like new. They sell new discounted for $1200 or so.
