  • OFR Fender Strats

Do they make Fender Strats with OFR? I love my strat, but enjoying playing my Mod 6 with the Floyd. Was wondering what a strat would sound like with a Floyd. Does anyone own one? Can you buy them like that or does it have to be modded? If it has to be modded, how intense would it be to do it?

I have two CS '69 Stratocasters (one Relic and the other one NOS) with a OFR.
Both have Hum/single/single pup combinations and they are both killers. I always dug the large headstock and with a modded pup configuration and the OFR they are just incredible.
They both give you that 80s modded Strat feel.
The only knock on them if I had to find one, is that the Fender CS took a stock '69 and kept the vintage frets on the Relic.
The NOS has taller frets, and that is my fav.

Some case could be made for resonance dampening because of the Floyd. But Eric Johnson would not be playing this thing.
These guitars scream gain and scream loud, at which point the little loss due to the OFR is not noticeable at all.

I believe WWG still has one in stock.

They had a model for several years with a Floyd as OE. I think it was called the "Floyd Rose Classic" or something to that effect. They pop up on the 'Bay every now and then, so keep an eye out. Saw one at a local guitar show - it's HSS layout - but didn't get a chance to play it.

I have never seen one. I'll look out, because like I said, it's sounds interesting. I think, if it was possible to mod one, I'd pick up a cheaper model strat to experiment with.

Interesting, but fugly. He says its the original set up, but it looks like it was modded. I could be wrong

I'm no Fender expert, but I'm reasonably sure that's stock. I do remember that the Floyd models came with a Dimarzio bridge hum, which you can make out in the pics. Also, note the Floyd logo on the headstock ball.

I didn't find any OFR Strats on Fender's site, but they've got this one with locking Fedner/Floyd trem which is a little better than their standard trems. http://www.fender.com/products/searc...tno=0101592764
