• what are my choices here?

so i'm looking for a short scale (24.75) super strat sort of guitar without a trem. i dig the jackson SLS's but thats probably a bit out of my price range right now. so one of the peavey v-types going to be my best bet?

i know some guys around here rave about the old peavey vandys. does anyone have any experience with the new v-types?

any other companies producing guitars similar to these?

Well, if you don't HAVE to go new, you can always look for a string thru Charvel 750xl or Jackson Archtop Pro. Of course, you'll have to fight me to the death for a 750xl string thru.

I'm not aware of any Schecters with short scales.

Oh yeah, if you want to go the used route, look into a Hamer Chaparral also. Those things are pretty killer short scale superstrats. I used to own one. Only reason I got rid of it were the medium frets. Of course, now I wish I hadn't.

Peavey Vandy comes to mind. Also look for those 80's Gibson strats. Factory pups suck, but, all around great players and can be had on the cheap.-Lou

Heh. Well, I'll be damned! I know those models were 25.5" before. Guess they mixed it up and started offering them in both scales now. Cool!

LOL Look at some of the other corresponding models on their site... they're offered in 25.5" scale.

I bought one for my nephew a couple of months ago. Got one new at a store closing in Denver for $200 and thought it was too good to pass up. After I took it home, set it up, and switched out the bridge pickup it was awesome. I had a blast playing it for a week before I gave it to him...in fact I liked it so much I went back to buy another one for a beater to keep for myself but they had sold them all by then. The Peavey FR trem worked great. I think these have alot of bang for the buck and I would recommend them highly.
