  • question about explorer body shapes...

Here is a question for all of you who have an explorer shaped guitar. I am wondering if I played a kelly, then I played a Gibson explorer, then I played a Dean and so on, would they all feel the same as far as where my picking hand and arm rest on the wing of the guitar? If I got a warmoth explorer body blank, would it feel similar to my import kelly?

Any comments would be much appreciated,

Never owned a kelley, but I had an Ibanez destroyer phil collen style, Gibson 76 RI, and a Hamer Standard (Korean).

The hamer was the most comfortable, followed by the gibby. I think the hamer was slightly smaller or the angles are slightly different. The wing didn't seem to get in the way as much to me and was more confortable sitting down. I never owned any of them at the same time though.
