I had one, for a short while. Not a terrible guitar. However, I am used to my Gibson LPC, so, to me, it felt 'cheap', but played well. I suggest you try one on first, then make the call... (Just my $.02)
I bought an Epi LPC to cure my LP GAS cuz, like you, I didn't want to spend the duckies on a real one. I've changed a lot of things on it (tuners, hardware, pups, electronics) which made a world of difference. Only problem is that, as much as I like the way it plays and sounds, I just can't get used to it. I think I'm discovering that I'm a strat guy. Be prepared for the Epi bashing to come, tho. Most folks here it seems are more partial to LPs like the Agiles and the Edwards.
My future band shall be known as "One Samich Short Of A Picnic"!
I have a soft spot for the Epiphone Les Paul Customs, probably because Josh Moore and Dusty Redmon from Beloved used them, and I don't think they're too bad...definitely not as bad as the other Epiphones.
My cousin just bought an Epi LP. He says it's great. From what I've heard, you just have to look to find a good one. It's not something you would want to buy without having it in your hands first.
My Xaviere kicks an Epi's ass all over the place!
Dammit, i forgot, that's an old pic. It has gold Gibson speed knobs now,a zebra Duncan Custom in the bridge, and a double cream Gotoh pickup in the neck.
I have a Epi. Zakk Wylde Custom and it's worth the price!!

epis are okay if you can find a good one. the standard i had was okay, and made in korea before they moved to china. i swapped the pickup, and that was about it. it was kinda like having a moped though; okay until your friends see you with one.
OK guitars if you find a good one...they are very inconsistant. Electronics are typically bad so figure on an upgrade and you have a serviceable instrument.
