• Charvel replica project

Finished up another project after being disgusted with ND beating Michigan in the big house earlier

This is a Blackhorse Dual hum Charvel replica body with a Musikraft Charvel type neck that was supposedly custom ordered, at least that was what the auction said, I have no way of knowing that but it is a killer neck.

Blackhorse did the paint on this one and its nice, hard to photo nice but it looks better in person.

Original Floyd Rose (hey, what else is there?)
DiMarzio EVO's (Bridge and Neck)Creme old school look
Jackson Tuners (came with the neck)
    One Volume
    3 way toggle

I need to intonate but since I have 2 projects in the works that are almost complete as well as the green HRF needing a better set-up (all OFR's) I'm gonna get the intonation tool/key and do them all at once.

    Here's she is;

    And some big ass pix

I hope to have another one, maybe two by next weekend.

Just too cool!!! Tell me about the MusiKraft neck -- is the back carve very Charvel-like? Did you use the "thin C" carve? Also, is Blackhorse still around?

            Re: Charvel replica project

            Thanks guys.

Mark - I don't have any real strathead Charvels necks to compare but it's close to my GMW and my Charvel (2195) pointy. It's a little beefier than the Jackson strathead necks I have. Its not thin. I didn't order the neck, it came on a project body that I got off eBay a few weeks back. It is a one piece quartersawn maple neck.

Blackhorse is still around and has bodies on eBay from time to time. http://www.blackhorseguitars.com/

Tim - I haven't really put her through its paces yet other than pluggin it into a Boogie combo to make sure I had it wired right The EVO's should be pretty good in this one...its an all maple body

I just did a search (Blackhorse) and saw your other 2 hum strat. You have some killer guitars!

                        Re: Charvel replica project

I was under the impression that Musikraft and Custom Woods are one and the same.

Musikraft/Customwoods have been around for a long time. I had a Musikraft neck on my #1 Strat when the original neck finally died. I had never heard of them before, just went and bought a neck...I had a gig that night.
I played that Musikraft neck for many years. I eventually replaced it with a Warmoth, cause I thought I wanted a Rosewood board. I didn't like the Warmoth nearly as much.

I don't remember the exact backshape of the Musikraft neck...I was too busy playing the damn things to worry about it.

yeah, chuck, they are the same. the customwoods stuff that's sold on ebay is kinda the scratch and dent/flaw musikraft stock. at least that's what i was told.

It turned out really nice! Is the neck pocket angled for the non-recessed floyd or is it shimmed?
