I have a Californian Elite (Cherry Transparent) and Californian Deluxe (Gold Granite), and they are definitely on par with any Jackson I've played. Too bad that there's nothing really special about the current import line, and they won't touch the "shredder" designs in the USA shop anymore.

I'd love to compare a Caparison Horus to one of my Hamers, but I don't see that happening!

I have a late 90's Hamer Special P90. A great guitar. It suffers from Hameritis, the laquer on the fingerboard edge has gone cloudy in places. Apparantly this is due to oils in the rosewood reacting with the laquer.

I found a cache of 80's/90's Hamers a few years back in Bangkok, the store where I bought my Charvel Model 5A. When I went back last year they'd sold 'em all. I fact the store about a mile from home had an early 90's Diablo last time I looked. It's probably still there!

I have owned man-many Hamers and they are smokin guitars, but have moved on and only own 2 guitars right now. My favoirite Hamer being the Hamer Chapparal Custom. I aksed Hamer many times to make me a custom one today and they always say "NO". I am kinda upset with them right now, so I sold all of my Hamers. if I were to buy a current production model, I would buy a Studio Custom. I prefer the double cut over their single cut. I don`t like the horn on the Monaco and the frtetboard binding and body stick out on the cut poart, too odd. I will get a Hamer again someday, but right now, I just can`t get over them not making me a new Chapp, yet they will make some other out of production models, it just depends on "Who You Are" and I am a nobody I guess.
