So where do these guitars fall in the quality range of ESP's subdivisions? I noticed that there are a few on eBay right now thru DCGL, and some of them actually look kinda neat.

Re: Grassroots by ESP
I had a Grassroots Explorer, the original shape.
The pickups had been replaced by the previous owner.
To make it short, the guitar was fairly light, and sounded like it was made of plywood. Well, I think it WAS actually made of plywood.
Loud unplugged sound, but dull and uninspiring. Not much sustain either...
I sold it to our bassist for 50 Euro and bought beer for the money.
BTW, my MII JS30WR Warrior blows it away in all aspects.

Re: Grassroots by ESP
Are they still making Grassroots guitars? From memory, they were a non endorsed ESP knockoff company making copies of the 93 period Metallica guitars. They were kinda cheap of course, but they sold well enough for ESP to take notice and buy into them or something to make the LTD series of affordable ESP's.
If they are still making them they may be ok, but I think the early ones are cheap, at least that's how I remember them.

Re: Grassroots by ESP
I played a "KH2" Grassroots about six or seven years ago, and that thing was pretty craptacular in most ways. It had possibly the worst inlay-job I´ve ever seen, and the rest of the craftmanship wasn´t much better. If they´re still around - well, I can´t comment on the more recent quality.
