Late 80's. The NJ stands for Nagoya Japan. Thats where they made it.

What about one with a bxxxx serial number and a Los Angeles, California, USA plate. No tm or License on the headstock, Kahler. Older? Newer?

It could be around the same year and either a Class Axe model that was basically assembled in New Jersey but made in Japan. Most of the B's that I had were USA models.

Are you sure that would have been Japanese? From what I've read, production of the NJs shifted from Nagoya to the Cort factory in Korea after 1986, and this definitely looks post-'86. From what little I know, the Japanese NJs ('83-86) have the more traditional logo that incorporates the fancy "R" at the top, similar to the USA guitars.

I just read somewhere that the older warlocks are 24.75 scale and newer ones are 25.5. Is this true and any idea of the year that this change took place?

yep looks C.A. import, lic. by.

all old neckthru BCRs are 24 5/8 NOT 24 3/4. boltons 25.5 they changed the warlocks & ironbirds i believe around 94ish?, but they were also available shortscale too.

easy way to tell imports have scarf joints, some are up in the headstock, USAs dont. BCR boltons are the hardest thing to date & ID, because during that time they had there heads in there ass's. serial#'s # records supposedly random, constantly changing hardware & routes.
