• My New Travel Guitar!

Just got a Squire "Mini Strat

I had to order 2 from Musicians Friend to get an acceptable one. It really plays well and sounds just like a full size American Strat. It's made in Indonisia and is plywood. The finish is good and the neck is nice. If you look for one, try to get the maple neck/rosewood. Some of the new ones are coming with some foreign looking wood where the maple is supposed to be. It looks somewhat fiberous? Weird. This one has the maple. Not a bad guitar for $99, plus MF throws in a Gig bag even though their catalog does not specify it. I now have a spare gig bag. I plan on using this for all my trips, since I have to travel on business frequently. Those hotel rooms get lonely without my guitar! The only thing I think needs replacing is the tuners. I've read the reviews and some have replaced the tuners with a better quality item. I'm still evaluating the replacement with my strings settling in. Anybody else have one of these?

they used to be 79.00 years back...they probably were made about the same then too...inflation.

Ha Ha ! That's my "Jim Shine" period correct YJM Strat. Jim suggested the parts that would make it closer to a 70's look. The mint green plastic was changed to parchment pickguard and aged white pup covers. That Mint green just didn't look right. I don't know what Fender was thinking. The Mint green effect appeared earlier in the 60's.
