Re: What to do? (GMW content)

I agree with the variety sentiment. I asked Lee for an ever so slightly thicker profile on the last one I got so it would not be the "same" guitar with a diferent paint job and an extra pup. I like the traditional feel of my '02, but I also like the variety.

All my guitars actually play slightly diferently for one reason or another and I think its a good thing. I have a hard enough time picking up another guitar that is not mine as it is, and if all my guitars played the same, I would be fuct. There is even some variation in my SD pointys as one has the rarer "thicker" SD profile (which is kinda what my newer GMW has).

That said, if you think that your GMWs are really not cutting it after a while, I am willing to bet that you could find some takers in this neck of the woods!

This is all about what fits right in your hand. I've never played a Suhr that felt good to me - and I've played about a dozen of them. I didn't like the GMP I had either. I don't like most PRS's either. All are fantastic guitars but if they don't feel right, I say move on.
I want REAL change. I want dead bodies littering the capitol.

I've never played a Suhr and I love my GMWs. But I too love variety. I will switch between my bolt ons and my neck thrus depending upon the last cd I heard before picking up a guitar. I always play the newest guitar a lot during the honemoon period but then everything settles down and I'm back in my old routine of flip flopping back and forth. If you can financially afford to hold on to a variety of guitars, then I would keep all the guitars that you enjoy playing - even though one or some may feel more comfortable than others. Just my 2 cents.

Yes it is all a matter of opinion. Some people like the feel of a Les Paul and others prefer a strat. Some prefer Boogie Woogie amps and others like Marshalls. All I know is I love both but prefer the feel of the Suhr Even C Medium neck. It just fits me. I will say I am excited to see the new GMW's and I also can't wait for my new Suhr that should be done in about a week. I will post pics when it comes in. It is going to be insane!!!

Yes buy my Suhrs for sale....I have too many so a couple have to go!

Seriously...Suhrs are the best I have ever played!

Tim,

Your grey Suhr has the neck I like. Even C slim with a 1.650 nut width - standard body shape with a recessed floyd. Perfect. I want that guitar! After two Suhr purchases, though, I'm a little low on funds. Sucks.

Yeah that is a nice one. I actually pulled it off the sale block. I am going to sell my Koa Suhr first and then when I get the new one in I will decide if I need or want to sell anymore of them. The Koa one has basically the same neck Mark.

Yes Paul I said it...Boogie Woogie....Because I can't stand Boogie products!!!! I'll take a Cameron Marshall or a Bogner anyday....

Again it is a matter of personal preference

A Koa Suhr talk about the pinnacle of guitars. I've never played one but I've heard legends. And being a Koa fan myself I can only imagine what a great guitar that is. Knowing the price on those Suhr's though its probably way way way out of my price range

If you loved them before, you'll still love them later too. The only thing is if the necks and bodies are basically the same do you really need 4 almost identical feeling/playing GMW's. Keep the 2 that sound the best and/or the most different and buy your next Suhr with the proceeds that way you have 2 GMW's & 2 Suhr's

Seems like people always regret great guitars they sell. In the new book "Clapton's Guitar" this guy sold a very limited production boutique acoustic for $100,000, and regretted it ever since.

Your case isn't so extreme, but like someone else said, the GMWs didn't turn bad overnight. I think you have to discount the "freshness" factor of the Suhrs a lot. You could of course have new necks made for the GMWs that are more like the Suhrs.

I'm in the give it a few months camp.

what Robo said, if you want to acquire another Suhr and not give up All of your GMWs.

When I got my Jackson PC1 I sold my SL2 and Ibanez Jem and never looked back.

But then the PC1 was better in every way - quality, feel, tone, sustain, better neck profile, etc...

I still keep a Hamer Californian, a Warrior and a Charvel around just to get a different feel and sound - I agree with the people here about variety.

I get sick of playing one guitar every single day. And although most days I use the PC1 there are days where I split it up between 2 guitars or don't use the PC1 at all.

I say if you want to sell the GMWs you might consider at least keeping one.

i have been a big fan of GMWs since 2000. They are great playing and sounding guitars.

The first time I ever played a Suhr (thanks to Markus sending me one), I got hooked on them. They have had the most natural fit to me of all guitars that I have ever played.

They are expensive and Lee can do the same work for less. It is the neck profiles that are different and that make the most difference. IMO

I like having a variety I'll go from my big fat (OG) 76 Explorer neck to a thin Charvie-type neck and enjoy both. It's kind educational to "adjust" your technique (not that I have much!) to compensate for the different shapes.
