Well, its finally done!!! Here are the final batch of pictures. The guitar has been strung up to pitch with a set of Webstrings .010 to .046. The neck repair seems to be holding up, but the string angle seems to be a bit shallower than normal. I will keep it strung up at tension to make sure that the repair doesn't shift. If it does, then the entire headtock will probably have to be replaced.
As to playability, the frets are way low, so I filed the nut down accordingly. Then neck has a slight bit of relief, which is good for the low frets and it's actually weird playing a guitar with action so low. I'm used to either 6105's or 6100's, but this plays to the point where you actually have to look and see if you are actually fretting.
The pickups currently installed are a pair of GFS Hot PAF's that I got off the bay. The bridge is like a hot rodded PAF (PAF Pro or Texas Special) while the neck is closer to a PAF. The tones are really cool and I can go from AC/DC to ZZ Top to Dream Theater to Megadeth. Having an XT Live helps too and the clean sounds are pretty cool too. Well, my work is just about done on this one - maybe a few pickup swaps, some missing screws and a final polish and its done. Whether I keep it or get rid of it is still in the air, but I had fun doing it. I hope you had a blast watching the transformation.
