Re: Musikraft San Dimas replica

define reasonably priced. the pointies that i've seen in stores (and from our dealers) would qualify as reasonably priced, american made guitars. charvels aren't going the import route (as far as we know), so you're not gonna get one for $499.

and i'm sorry dude, but i'd LOVE to see one example of the anniversary guitars sell for $4k.

His question is legit: Show me a reasonably priced strathead?
I think the current production pointies are reasonably priced, too, but I won't be seen with a pointy headed guitar. I'd love to support Charvel. What's my move?

Re: Musikraft San Dimas replica

his question may be legit if we consider the current crop of production charvels as reasonably priced. his first post was mainly directed at "the man," and his second post has a very unrealistic price attached to the reissues. sorry, but you and i both know that people were not paying 4 large for them.

you're right in that currently, you're SOL if you want a production charvel strathead anyway, let alone one at the price point of the pointies. that's not to say that they're not coming. i believe the PC-1s would point into that direction. that said, i'll bet that if and when production stratheads are offered, (theoretically at the same price point as the pointies) many will reply with "why should i pay that much when i can get a used GMW/make a warmoth/musikraft?"

that point has been made, and heard (from what john posted). his second question lies more with why would you (some of the membership) participate in the counterfieting of the product of a company you (the membership) claim to support? if you (the membership) are truly fans of the company, why do something that is percieved (rightfully so, imo) as the complete opposite of supporting?

we all post about how a punk ed roman is for what he does. it's not much different than putting charvel logos on gmws, warmoths, et al; just on a larger scale. and the "i'd never sell it as real" defense is weak; eventually those guitars will change enough hands (and perhaps be parted out) and whaddya know, they're now real charvels. simply because you may not be doing it doesn't mean you're not supporting the fakes one way or another.

i'm with chuck...put strat heads on the current pointies and i'd own 3 or 4 of them with different bridges and pickups. that price range is ok by me, good US quality and an option for solid colors or graphics would be cool.

Fender is a money making machine just like all the other big guitar companies and they should be seeing green with the thought of strat head charvels. i get the whole "we don't want to confuse customers" thing but....hello, we (the consumer) can read i can see which is a fender and which is charvel on the headstock so don't give me that "we (fender) don't want to confuse the buyers" crap that i've heard before. FMIC now owns charvel so give the buyers what we want and the amount of clones out there will be cut down by a large amount. it really is that simple, put a strat head on a charvel and make more money, don't put it on and lose customers to the "clone" factories lol.

I didn't state that they sold for that but that was the MSRP on them I believe they were like $2999. for a strathead 1 hum guitar without a Floyd! Talking about taking advantage of the Charvel name, whoa! Reasonable price being about $1300 to $1500 for starters and I agree with Chuck I can't stand pointy's, at my age that just doesn't fit anymore.

Re: Musikraft San Dimas replica

Notice that the logo issue is almost exclusively applicable to that which is not allowed? i.e., custom Charvel stratheads.

Kind of a double-edged sword to be frowning upon replicas of a market segment that J/C is, itself, precluded from building originals of, don't you think?

I hope that doesn't sound harsh. I certainly don't intend it that way. But, from one perspective, the "enemy" is of your own creation.

Again, I'd love to have nothing but real Charvel stratheads, custom ordered to my specs. Start offering it, and you'd immediately put 90% of that aftermarket stuff out to pasture.

At the rate were going I get the feeling like there is going to be 2 guitar company's calling the shots(Fender, Gibson). Just like when I drive down the roads and just see Wal-mart and Target. Se ya mom and pop stores, and soon when all the competition is consumed we will all bitch that we should have done something.

i'd like to ask a question i never heard a solid (from FMIC J/C) answer for. i've heard what other people think the reason is but i'd love to hear it from a person that works for FMIC or J/C and actually knows the true answer.

why aren't there strat head charvels (aside from special editions) now that the companies are all owned by the patent holder for the strat head shape?

as you can tell by this thread alone the consumers want it so it's not a matter of needing buyers for them. as someone else said, the demand is here, where is the supply?

also wondering aloud on this, but where has anyone from FMIC ever said that they're not doing stratheads b/c they don't want to confuse anyone? i've never seen that. to go further, since the changing of the guard, all i've ever heard was "one thing at a time" now they're here, and i understand that a reish model may not fit everyone's tastes; be it specs, or pricing, but you have to agree that it's better than it was.

going back to the original question though; why is it okay to put a fake charvel logo on a guitar that's not a charvel? i'm sure that they don't want to lose business to anyone, but i don't think that jcmktgguy's issue is with someone building a cool parts guitar. the issue is the process of making it what it isn't, which is a charvel. why not be more creative and have your own logo made? you can do that as cheaply as getting one of the fake logos on ebay. really.

Name one good reason why a full size strat, with strathead neck, one hum, one vol, one color, and a Floyd can't be made for the $1500 price point?

There is no real reason, other than being able to push those over priced EVH's and the 25ths. Once the sales of those have hit the skids, we'll probably see a regular production model, hopefully.

it's something that has been mentioned before, but basically the thought is that although FMIC owns many companies, they are all treated separately. ever notice that you don't see much charvel stuff on the jackson site? that's a smaller example of that. even the reish stratheads have the licsensing sticker on it. i'm sure there's a more detailed reason, but that's basically it in a nutshell. it's the same kinda reason why you don't see jackson silverjets. also, let's look back a little bit. there has been progress on this, just maybe not as fast as we'd like. it doesn't mean that they're not coming.

Sully, the reason i mentioned that confusing people thing is b/c that is one of the reasons i have heard through the grapevine as to why not (it was just the first to come to mind i guess when writing my post). i never said that was true i guess i should have made it more clear as to that being one of the reasons i had heard that was most likley not fact). sorry about that confusion.

thus why i asked if there was a solid answer out there direct from the source.

(In response to the Mighty Sullster) Oh, I think they are. You'd better believe it. Once the 25th Anniversary and EVH stuff has run it's course, I believe we'll see stratheads at the same pricepoint as the current pointies. They just have to meter these things out slowly and milk maximum response, and sales, out of each model.
And we'll no longer have to put bootleg decals on our parts guitars. Cause I would rather be playing the Real Deal. Let me!
