Please do not supress opinions out of political correctness to fender. I do not want to be handled by any member of the board, admin or other or by Fender when my point is on target and valid.

You are not being "handled". Your post remains posted and people have replied.

DO NOT think that just because you have an opinion that nobody is entitled to theirs, no matter what their title is on the board!

[/ QUOTE ]

And that is appreciated.

I understand that the relationship between the board and the manufacturer is symbiotic. I also understand that some times we members can greatly damage that relationship. This is a great thread. Someone from marketing came in and asked us "why" and many have responded. This is marketing asking!!! I respond with passion, not malice.

I appreciate FMIC bringing back the USA Charvel line. They are going in the right direction, they've had retro stratheads, the 25ani, EVH art series and endorsee's with stratheads and the new PC1. Its all positive and good news IMHO, its all baby steps.

Not that I have deep pockets or that my money matters to FMIC but the last 7 guitars I bought, or built are very "Charvel like", other people got my money (coulda been FMIC) and will continue until Charvel delivers what I want. I'll get what I want either way so it may as well be a real deal Charvel

since this thread was supposed to be about Camos new guitar i'd like to bring it on track with a question for you camo...

i just realized that your camo strat head has an odd volume knob location. is that something you ordered when you first placed the order for it? i've only seen a knob placed b/t the floyd and pickup like yours on one other pre-pro charvel. as most know they tend to be right in line with the pickup height screw 1 5/8" away on charvels. newer Waynes on the other hand have the knob in a simlar location to yours.

just curious on that.

Unfortunately/fortunately, since this is a discussion board, when one person asks a question, many will answer.

Well said.

I sincerely hope that John takes these comments as they are intended: the passionate responses of devoted Charvel enthusiasts. They are not intended to be "anti-Fender", "anti-J/C" nor personal criticisms of business decisions and choices. It is sometimes - understandably - difficult to discern the speaker's actual meaning or tone from the simple written words on the screen.

I'm very grateful to have them even ask us the question. And even more grateful to have the opportunity to voice my opinion.

great thread guys. just a thought...
about the Charvel waterslides on strat heads, is it really considered a "copy" if its something thats no longer in production? shouldnt it be viewed as more of a "tribute" situation? im sure im probably wrong in the eyes of most, but it just seems like people trying to capture an image or feeling of something from the past, and i for one dont see anything wrong with that. you dont see Porsche getting upset over the hoardes of 550 spyder replicas people love so much. after all, its not like THEY make 'em anymore. maybe its the same, maybe its not. just my opinion, glad its a place i can express it

they do make them though. granted, perhaps not in the capacity we'd like, but they're available. even if they weren't, it's illegal to do so. anyway, i'm done on this topic; i'm worn out!

Thanks I caught the string lock block thing yesterday. The guy that did the set up for me did that. I have done it before too.

I am the second owner and I bought the guitar in 1985/86. I have not changed or altered the volume nob location in any way so I don't know if the origonal owner ordered it that way.

Yes they are both from musikraft. When I called Jim at Musikraft and told him my research on paint was going to one, take a long time and two, cost a lot he had the paint shop at Musikraft paint it for me. They charged $175 extra for paint.

I agree Sully and I think you have handled this entire discussion well and answered everyone including myself back with a good response (sometimes not always what people want to hear). Overall excellent discussion and hopefully the future will bring great things.

Wow, I must have my head up my ass for the last few days, totally missed this thread...

I think there is a simple answer to this that keeps getting brushed over, the bottom line is that most of us here are nothing more than guitar players/collectors/fans of Charvel Jackson guitars.

All we want is what we had or couldn't afford when we were 18.

And that was Charvel/Jackson guitars, not "Warmoth", not "Fender", not "Musikcraft", etc!!!

For whatever reason, we still CANNOT get that in the market today, FMIC has not offered it to us. In my opinion (and I think most here) they have only offered collector versions of stratheads, with an extremely narrow range of color/pickup/bridge configurations.

Until the time that FMIC does offer it to us (at correct specs and more reasonable pricing), the majority here will continue to seek out the used GMW's, or build kit guitars that mimic what we always wanted back in the day.

I think it's a disconnect between those thinking soley about the bottom line (FMIC) and those here thinking about their passion, which is Charvel/Jackson guitars. Niether is wrong, FMIC is in business to make money, and we're allowed to want what we want.
