Personally I think the guitar is cool. But why put the Charvel logo on there even if it is a clone. If someone was to duplicate a paint job of mine then sign my name on it, I would be all over them. Why not just build the guitar the way you want it and leave the logo off. It appears that you may be more concerned with what people think you are playing rather than how you play.

So you're saying that a guitar built by Mike Shannon, a 30+ year veteran builder for Jackson/Charvel, completely hand made with hand selected woods from the original Charvel jigs isn't worth $2k+ ??

[/ QUOTE ]

Absolutely not. His experience does not bring a significant added-value to what is possibly the most simple of all electric guitar designs.
I can certainly see the added value an experienced builder like Mike could bring to a more elaborate design and a premium is deserved in that case.

I am another one you can count on for a new strathead custom. Since summer NAMM of 04 I have had my local Fender/Jackson/Charvel dealer harrass the regional rep about getting a strathead Charvel.

I see the PC-1 as a slap in the face, and not a step moving forward. I don't remember any dinky bodied 24 fret strathead Jacksons from the glory days.

I also didn't see the diehard Jackson fans calling for a strathead Jackson when the 25th anniv. came out. The Charvel guys were already putting their children up on ebay waiting to custom order the new strathead Charvels of their dreams.

Some ask, what is so special about the old stratheads? All I can say is when you find the right one they are truely magical guitars. Mine feels as though it was made just for me.

Because of that FMIC does have a huge hurtle to clear with a new strathead. With the old ones being hand made and then you add in 20plus years of wear, FMIC could ask for 50 of the old stratheads to be brought in to be measured. I doubt two would be an exact match.

If FMIC is delaying the strathead because they want it to be right I can wait a little longer. But not much longer.

I could almost guarantee that getting a Strat head Charvel with the correct neck profile out into the general public will make fans instantly.

I've been in love with Charvel necks since I first laid my hands on them. A friend of mine, who is a die hard gibson purest, can't get enough of my GMW because he says it's just about the most comfortable thing he's ever played.

I too, would put my order in right now if I could have a solid color, 1 hum, floyd strat head. That would be sweet.

1. I appreciate your feedback and understand your frustration.

2. I asked 2 questions in which I was probing the minds of our past, current, and possible future customers. Neither of which had anything to do with us offering or not offering the Fender headstock. However, that did come up in the replies.

3. I didn't bash anyone here and made that clear in one of my follow up posts. I made a comment about some of the replies being self centered, in which I meant they were only thinking from a consumer perspective and not taking into account the business side of it.

4. I'm not defending anything. Again, I asked 2 questions that evoked honest (and emotional) responses. I replied openly and honestly.

Everyone has their own viewpoint on this. You obviously don't agree with with how things are going. That's OK....that's why i asked the questions.

Everyone's feedback has been helpful. One reason why I am on here is to get a look inside your minds.

OK. This thread is back. Please, let's remember. John doesn't really have to come here and post anything. He does and that can be nothing but good for the board. So please, show him some respect when you ask a question or offer your opinion. (who knows, if you put it nice enough, he might just listen to you )

John, I appreciate you coming here and posting openly and honestly. A little dialog goes a long way.

Honestly, I think a couple of your posts were a bit abrasive. As for taking into account the business side of it, not a chance. As a consumer, the business goals of some big multi-national corporation really aren't something I care a lot about when I'm picking out a guitar. I want what I want.

I asked the questions I asked to see what kind of responses I would get. For the most part, the answers have been pretty self-centered "I want something and I can't have it NOW, so to get back at Fender, I'm going to buy it from someone else".

[/ QUOTE ]

You've got it wrong there. Subtle. But still wrong. Nobody is trying to "get back at Fender". For must of us, this isn't a "screw Fender" thing. Not at all. I have no personal vendetta with Fender. I love my Fender guitars. I love my Jackson and Charvel guitars. But if Fender/Charvel/Jackson isn't going to make me want I want and I know of a way to get what I want in a manner I deem reasonable, then I'm gonna do it.

I vote with my wallet - you make guitars I want, I'll buy them.
I want REAL change. I want dead bodies littering the capitol.
