• Kramer Ferrington EX-1B

OK guys i need some advice, i can get this guitar cheaper then what they have listed, alot cheaper, what would you guys say would be a good price.

http://www.gbase.com/Powered/GearDetails...56a&Item=773269

This guitar is pretty nice, never seen a acoustic with a bolt on neck, but it has nice low action and plays and sounds good.

Any input would be appreciated.

By the way the Ferringtons have been going up on ebay. I wouldn't be afraid to pay $300.00 for it, maybe more.

Re: Kramer Ferrington EX-LB

Taylor guitars have had bolt-on necks since the early '90's, it's just not as obvious as the neck joint on the Ferrington.

What's the attraction to the guitar for you? The shape or relative rarity of it? If what you seek is a good-sounding acoustic, you might have a lot more options for about the same money. But if you just dig the Ferrington's looks, well, maybe just go for it.
Takeoffs are optional but landings are mandatory.

I'm no expert, so don''t hold me to anything.
But....

Thats an honest-to-gosh, actual, real life.. semi-rare
FERRINGTON.

NOT a Kramer

Big Clue #1: "Ferrington" Logo on headstock
Big Clue # 2: "Ferrington Label in soundhole

I've never seen a Kramer-produced Ferrington without a "Kramer" logo.. nor with a "Ferrington" label in the soundhole.

This puppy was most likely made in Danny Ferrington's shop - post Kramer

That means Made in USA.. unlike Korean Kramer Ferringtons

This, coupled with the hard to find "Explorer" shape.. makes this guitar worth more than $300.00 for sure.

IMHO, of course.

I should also note that after Kramer , Danny Ferrington continued this line with the help of Kramers's former vp. Perhaps some parts MAY say "Kramer".. tuners, backplate, ect..

Also, Musicyo briefly re-issued a Ferrington-like, Explorer shaped guitar like this one, 2 or 3 years ago.

Based on the pics, I still think it's an original US made Ferrington.

I just re-read your post..

Did you actually see "Kramer" anywhere?

Oh wow, a REAL Ferrington!!!!!!!!!!! Do you think its worth more because it looks like it was dragged behind a gravel truck too?

Hey smartass.. just 'cause YOU don't like em.....

Danny Ferrington built high-quality guitars.. you're just demonstrating YOUR ignorance.

Does it sound like a Martain D-20?.. 'course not.. but it's a piece of history, one of the first acoustic/electric hybrids, not to mention electric guitar action.

Plugged into a direct rec setup.. they have a nice sound..

If it truely is a Ferrington, and not a Kramer "Ferrington".. then it is worth it.

Unless $300.00 for a Handbuilt, US made axe is way too much.

If, however.. it's a MusicYo re-issue.. $175.00 tops

Had a Ferrington, it was shit.....
If its such a great guitar why dont you buy it? He wants only $600 for such a "desirable" piece, why lowball the guy and say its only worth half that? No one here has said its worth the asking price, that speaks volumes at only $600. At that price many real desirable Kramers would fly off the shelf..........

I had Gibson Les Paul.. it was shit.

I've had 2 or 3 Ferringtons. thought they were great.

What does it prove?.. Nothing, other than opinions about guitars are subjective..

I just don't see why you have to snear at the notion that *some* may find value in a particular guitar.

In this case, the whole thing is moot.. as it appears that it's not an original Ferrington, so of course it's not worth anywhere near the asking price.

What does it say on the neckplate?

It's very strange that it has that huge "Ferrington" label in the soundhole.

I've only ever seen that on actual L.A made guitars before.

It must be one of the very last line. Cool.. but not a US made axe.. shame..

Anyways, If the price was closer to $250.00 I myself would grab it, as it's fairly unique

However, I spent all my $$$ on google shares.

Re: Kramer Ferrington EX-1B

the only thing that throws me off is the one i know of has a inlay next to the farrington on the headstock that they do not show in that add. Read this thread, the one i know of also has a different model number, the one is EX-1B or EX-LB, it is hard to read, but i am gonna assume it is 1B and the B is standing for black.
