Re: Pictures of Fender Mexico Plant!

Hey that were my new Junior will be coming from.
Observations:
1. Still pounding frets? No fret press?
2. Hardware made in China and Taiwan. Yuck!
3. Where's my Burrito?

Nice Pics. Thanks for posting

Look at the pictures below the lady "pounding" the frets. She's just getting one end started, then they use the press. It looks like a pretty nice setup. That plant looks amazing. Much better than any of the American guitar factories I've been in.

Actually, I thought the same thing at first. I wonder how that plant compares to the Fender USA plant? I've got one of the 50th Anniversary Deluxe Strats, and they really have their shit together. I would imagine it's a pretty impressive setup.

Re: Pictures of Fender Mexico Plant!

Glad you guys liked these. I would say the USA plant probably has the same machinery. However, having anything of this size would just be too expensive in the good 'ole USA. I would really like to see photos of a Samick factory in Korea--probably several times the size of this operation.
At first, when I saw this, I have to admit I thought "sweatshop." I mean, this isn't much different than working at a large furniture factory. This said, taking a second look, everyone has pretty nice clothes and seems reasonably happy to be there. I imagine the wages are much higher than any non-USA plant over there..

I will be posting pictures of the Ibanez plant in Japan soon--surprisingly, a much smaller, more meticulous operation.

OH MAN

The stacks of bodies. . . holy shit.

I really want to go on a mutt building rampage in there.

I have a couple mexi strats..one is of the Roland ready series that is really well made. The other ones ain't bad either, one is Corona USA Fender which was MIM and assembled in USA..frets are small on these tho.
Very nice factory, really clean work environment..looks like a great place to work. I can imagine the labor down there is very inexpensive to union labor here.

I haven't seen a Mexi with anything but vintage frets - do they make a model with jumbo/medium jumbos?
Other than that I have been happy with my mexi fender experiences.

I didn't see a single chair or stool. I'd hate to think I had to stand 8 hours in one spot installing various hardware.

Actually, the only MIM Fenders that have vintage frets are the Stds. and the Classic series RIs. All the others have MJ frets.

Thanks for the cool pics. Mexico built Fenders do playt very nice. I have played a few that play better than some of the USA models.
