Im thinking of building a guitar. Which company do you think makes better parts, Black horse or Musicraft?

Warmoth. I know that isn't in your question. I haven't used either of the companies you mentioned, but Shawn should chime in anytime now. He's used both.

Paul, both [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img] Musikraft necks are sweet. Blackhorse bodies are nice. USA Custom Guitars also make a killer body. I may try Musikraft for my next body but I am impressed with the necks I have from them.

I just got this birdseye Tele neck from Warmoth and it's kickass. I got jumbo frets on it also, plays very very nice. I was very impressed with their product and fretjob.

and look at the birdseye figuring (and this is their basic birdseye, not the AAA special kind)

So heres my other question. When you finaly get done ordering a body,neck,paint job and all the parts you need and then of course assembly. Is it about the same price as a comparable gmw?

Yeah, it can be get up there in price for sure but you also can save a bunch as well. The thing that makes it almost about the same would be the type of paint job you select, after painting a few myself, I have no problem paying to have that done. I do use all new new parts. I'm sure I could get the prices lower going with used parts but that takes a lot of time hunting them down and you never know what your going to get [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

I just took a bunch of parts all completely loose to one of the better guys in Chicago and I was out the door with a complete guitar for $220 including fret leveling and edge rolling of a customewoods neck.

yeah my guy in LA charged me $190 for the complete assembly and setup, plus a custom nut for $60 (which I thought was a little high for that).

oh well, it plays great.

Shawn, how close is your Blackhorse bodies to your GMW body? Exactly the same, very close, somewhat close? If any, what are the differences?
