• Dueling Jems.....

Well, I got my 77FP, 2003, and it is absolutely mint. Could not be happier. I am a really big Charvel fan, but you just cannot argue with the playability of these Jems....Awesome guitars.

Awesome Shawn, just awesome. You're kinda making me miss mine, just a little...
What year is your 7VWH? I know it's at least a 2003 with the Edge Pro.

Awesome guitars Shawn. Does the FP have an ebony board cause it looks awfully dark

I picked up a FP at a Guitar Center about 15 years ago just cause I thought it was hideous looking. It was one of the nicest playing guitars I have ever played. Wish I would have bought it at the time but I couldn't stand the look of it. Now I think they look cool. Nice score buddy, when you get tired of it give me a call

I will keep ya in mind, but I tend to be a black hole (unless it's a Rhoads for some reason). This is the last year for the 7VWH's and the Florals are getting almost impossible to find in this shape. I was lucky to get it. Great playing guitar and the PAF pro sounds killer, almost as good as the Evo's.

The one thing really cool about these Jem's, you can damn near get any sound imaginable out of it.

Who told you that this is the last year for the 7VWH? I was told my two Ibanez sources that it will go on after this year.

You can call their US disty, they will tell you. VSBL last year, and 7vwh this year.

I'll have to email back my buddy in Bensalem then. Dang! This is going to ruin my plans of waiting a few years before I buy one. I could always get one off of ebay, but I want a brand spankin' new untouched guitar.

I don't mean to rain on your parade with these guitars.
I had a Blue Floral pattern 6 string that I sold.

The neck was really fast - really fast. And you could get the string action really close - probably the fastest guitar I have ever played period. Upper fret access was fantastic.

However, I thought the tone was typical Ibanez - weak in all aspects with the exception that it got great harmonics. The parts were cheap. There were spots on the floral inlay in the neck that were white not blue. The tremelo really sucked.

I tried numerous pickups. The basswood was muddy I thought. I read Vai uses Alder ones for the most part.

The speed of the neck was in part due to how thin it was. The problem with a neck that thin - especially when you have bigger hands is that you get fatigued quickly when you use a lot of vibrato. I could not get enough anchor on that neck for my hands.

I always wished Jackson would have made one of those with a fatter neck, maple top and mohagony body, and an original Floyd.
