Strat shaped, rear routed, mahogany bodied guitar with a bolt on neck? I've been considering picking up a regular strat shaped guitar, preferably with a floyd, but I can't find anything that resembles my specs short of a sl2h-mah. I kind of want a maple neck/maple fretboard too. Short of going the custom shop or the Warmoth route (which I'm considering doing), what else would I have for options? I kind of want the growl of an LP combined with the ease of playability of a strat shape all combined.

not to be a traitor, but this is in the "other manufacturers" section, so here goes:
Kramer Nightswan's, i believe, are mahogany
the old Hamer Steve Stevens model (I hear is a rockin guitar, if you can find one)
They are both mahogany, floyd equipped.Comment

Hrmm, forgot about the PC models....not really a fan of single coils, but its not a huge deal. What are the neck profiles like on them?Comment

I don't have a PC1, yet, so I can't comment on that. I do have a PC3 and it's thicker than a DK1 and quite comfortable. It's not overly thick but does have some mass to it.http://www.jacknapalm.com/Comment

Just perfect [img]/images/graemlins/cool.gif[/img] Phil was a Les Paul player going way back. The profile is sort of a psuedo 50's LP type of back shape. (see the Jackson website for actual thickness) I love the shape and it's one I'll be specifing on a custom shop order soon.Tone is like Art: Your opinion is valid. Charvel SD2 came in mahogany, lacewood and Koa....Popular is not the same as good

Charvel makes a mahogany w/ maple to San Dimas in the Custom Shop.
The old Hamer Steve Stevens was/is a rockin' axe! I sold a few of those back in the day when I was working retail.
The old PC3 or a PC1 would work too.Comment

ESP LTD 201s are bolt-on with mahogony bodies. Many of them are real nice too. They are being discontinued and replaced by the 200/250 models that have mohog. bodies but are neck through.
If you can find a mohogony MH201 it would be close to what your going for.
They have quilted/flamed maple tops, natural body binding, and white binding on the neck and HS. They are awsome IMO.
They are also available in trans red, and trans black.Comment
